National Iced Tea Day: Why Iced Tea Is The Best Drink Of All

People’s choice of beverage is usually telling of their current mood. While many people enjoy a cup of coffee to jumpstart their morning, I never quite found myself enamored with the aromatic brown drink. Rather, I’ve always been an iced tea person.

I would say that my love for iced tea goes back to my childhood.

However, it wasn’t until I got to college when I began drinking it to kickstart my day. Sometimes, I felt like having a Venti Shaken Iced Green Tea. Other times, I’d prefer a large Sweet Tea from Dunkin’ Donuts. But I made sure that I always had one in hand. If I could, I would have walked around with a constant IV drip of iced tea to keep me going. While I’m aware of the high sugar content in these sorts of drinks, I justified my habits as a necessary evil. Nothing else could replace the jolt of energy I received. Besides, I would balance it out with routine walks and a semi-nutritious diet.

This refreshing drink comes in a variety of forms. Because of the varied selection, there is something that everyone would like. If you’re like me, you’re very selective about which ones you’ll inhale and which ones you’ll say “thank u, next” to.

Since I lived in Florida for over 15 years, I would say that I am quite the expert on what good iced tea, specifically sweet tea, should taste like. While I may not be Southern in any sense, the South makes itself known for their sweet tea.

Which kind of iced tea rules them all?

Hot take, Chick-fil-a has the best sweet tea in the fast food industry. Whatever blend they’re using is magical, and I frequently pop in just for their legendary sweet tea.

If you’re lucky enough to live in a state with the greatest supermarket known to man (and ranked #1 by Forbes in 2018), Publix, then you’ll know their iced tea selection is hands down one of the best out there. Whether you drink their sweet tea by the gallon, or you get an individual bottle to go with your Publix sub, this refreshing drink will keep you happy and hydrated.

Furthermore, if you’re looking for a great drink to enjoy this summer, you can pick up an Arizona branded iced tea. It’s the perfect drink for when you’re lying by the pool or getting tanned at the beach. There are many flavors you can choose from – a Sweet Tea, a classic Lemon Iced Tea, or an Arnold Palmer. An Arnold Palmer is an iced tea and lemonade combination that your body will thank you for consuming. The sweet and citrus mix will have your taste buds watering for more.

Versatility is the best thing about iced tea.

You can have it with your breakfast, your lunch, your dinner, and any time in between. There is never a bad time of the day to enjoy a glass. However, if you’re in a restaurant and you order one, chances are that it may come unsweetened and you’ll have to sweeten it yourself. Even worse, they may bring you one with a lemon in it. You have to speak up and let your server know exactly what you want or don’t want in your iced tea.

While I can go on and on about my love for iced tea, I’ll say this: it will never be a bad choice wherever you go. You’ll be surprisingly happy if you start swapping it with a soda or other sugary drink options. So, on National Iced Tea Day, get yourself a tall glass (or a can) of iced tea and say “ahhhh.”
