How Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” Sparked The Latest Meme Trend

You may have noticed a particular phrase being splashed all over your Twitter feeds over the past few days, followed by three pictures of random things (or things that oddly make sense to you). One taught me love, one taught me patience, and one taught me pain. Does that ring a bell?

For those who don’t know, that phrase is actually the lyrics of the pre-chorus in Ariana Grande’s new song “thank you, next.” So fans are taking it upon themselves to share what taught them love, patience and pain. And let me tell you, they range from movie sequels to food products.

I think we can all agree that the final installment of the HSM saga was horrific and totally did the series disjustice.

OKAY, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS BECAUSE THE THIRD MOVIE LEGITIMATELY CAUSED ME A LOT OF PAIN THAT I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR!

Mama mia, here we go again…

Bet you didn’t think this would be included, but now that you see it, it totally makes sense.

And to think this got a fourth installment.

Dr. Phil has been straight wildin’ lately, am I wrong?

Just when I thought I could accept Nick Jonas’ engagement news…

Any other One Tree Hill fans relate?

Anytime they can make a meme relevant again is a good day to me.

Does anyone else agree? This may seem a little conflicting.

I can relate to this on a personal and painful level.

I may sense a little shade towards the characters/actors here…

*sips tea*

Overall this song is super emotional and really empowering for some in terms of the lyrics. Not only has it provided some great Instagram captions for when you want him to see you aren’t bothered by him anymore (even though you lowkey are), it’s made for a great trend you can’t help but laugh at. So thank you, Ariana Grande, for somehow bringing the world together through your music.
