Many of us over-plucked our eyebrows back in the Christina Aguilera days, but now, we dream of perfect, thick brows. Our eyebrows are especially important to maintain right now because when we wear masks, they’re pretty much all other people can see. That’s why microblading is the new brow trend – it’ll give you flawless eyebrows. Here is everything you need to know about microblading:

What is microblading?

Microblading is the process of creating finely-scratched lines on your skin to create a brow shape. At the beginning of your appointment, your microblading artist will draw what your finished brow will look like, so you can choose the shape and thickness. You can also choose to match your natural hair color or choose from a variety of other colors.

What is the microblading process?

Your first microblading appointment will take about 45 minutes to an hour. The technician will apply a numbing cream 20 minutes prior to starting on your brows so that the process will be painless. Once you leave, the beauty of your brows will surprise you!

Two to three days after your appointment, your brows will appear dark and bold, but don’t panic – this is normal! Four to seven days after microblading, your brows will begin to scab and flake, and they may look patchy. At this point, they’ll seem to disappear. However, the end result will be worth your time!. 10 to 14 days in, your brows will look almost normal, but they may be slightly patchy and faint. This means that it’s time to schedule your touch-up.

Every microblading artist will recommend coming in for a touch-up four to six weeks after your first appointment. On average, by that time, you’ll lose about 40% of your initial hair strokes. Your touch-up appointment should only take about 30 minutes. The healing process after the touch-up may involve some scars and fading, but it goes away quickly. After a few days, your brows will look much fuller!

Taking Care Of Your Brows

Taking care of your microbladed brows is pretty simple. The first day Your artist will recommend dabbing your brows with a moist cotton ball every hour and washing it with baby soap bar soap the day of your first appointment. Also, most artists will give you a cream to apply once a day to help avoid excessive scabbing. Try to avoid getting your brows wet because water is harsh on fresh ink. Stay out of direct sunlight for four weeks, and apply sunscreen to protect the pigment. Caring for your brows properly will prevent you from needing another touch-up too soon – microbladed brows typically last for 12 to 18 months.

At first, I hesitated to get my brows microbladed because it’s semi-permanent, but the end result was worth the effort. If you want beautiful brows to complement your face mask, try microblading – you won’t regret it!
