parents

Christmas is a time to celebrate with family, whether it’s yours or your partner’s. However, making a good impression on your significant other’s parents can be hard, especially when you don’t know them well or have never even met them. Fortunately, though, sending your partner’s parents a little holiday greeting is a great way to show that you care about them and want to have a stronger relationship with them.

But if you don’t know which type of holiday message would be best, here are a few ideas for any type of relationship you may have with your SO’s parents. (Just check with your partner before you send their parents a message!)

For the sappy parents:

“Hi (insert partner’s parents’ names here!) I just wanted to say that I’m extremely grateful that you welcomed me into your family so graciously. Thank you for loving me like your own and for all you do. Have a great holiday season! I hope to see you soon!”

For the parents who made you the best gift:

“You have given me the best gift of all by raising (significant other’s name).”

For the “bonus family:”

“I’m so happy that (partner’s name) came into my life and brought you with them!”

For your second set of parents:

“Merry Christmas to my second set of parents. Santa couldn’t have done a better job of bringing gifts like you into my life. I’m so thankful for you.”

For the family you miss:

“Merry Christmas! I can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!”

For the parents who are part of your Christmas:

“I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing you all soon and celebrating together. It doesn’t feel the same without you all here.”

For the parents with lots of traditions:

“Really missing out on your (insert partner’s family’s holiday tradition here). Happy holidays! I miss you!”

For the family who loves sweets:

“Merry Christmas! Enjoy these sweets and goodies – we’ll have to have more together soon.”

For the parents who love a good Christmas carol:

“I may not be able to sing Christmas carols on your front porch, but I hope that when you hear this song you think of us (be sure to send a link to their favorite Christmas song!) Merry Christmas.”

Family is so important this time of year, and I’m so thankful that you’ve become a huge part of mine. Merry Christmas.”

Whether you’re in a brand-new relationship or it feels like you’ve known your partner’s parents forever, you’re sure to find the perfect message to brighten up their holiday season. So get to wrapping gifts, and include one of these “season’s greetings” – your partner’s family is sure to love you even more!
