Why Learning Survival Skills Can Help You As A Modern Woman

survival

Just a few hundred years ago, hunting, food preparation, and other survival skills were essential. Today, though, due to urbanization and technological advancements, many consider these skills “useless.” However, in the past few years, more women have chosen to pick up these skills. Here’s why they’re experiencing a resurgence.

Peace of Mind

Women are increasingly turning to hobbies like cooking and making their own clothes to draw attention away from the harsh realities of life. Picking up hobbies, including domestic ones, can help us turn our minds off when the world feels too heavy. Sewing a skirt or knitting a sweater can be a soothing way to learn a practical skill and also harness our creative energy.

In the same way, when you relearn the skills that the world seemingly forgot, you invest in yourself. The process of learning a new skill calms the mind, and the hours that you spend working on a tangible project provide you with a sense of relief. You’ll emerge from your latest project feeling like you can tackle your biggest challenges with a clear head.

Self-Reliance

Society considers most survival skills “masculine.” Even just 100 years ago, women stayed home while men worked or went hunting or fishing. Many women didn’t learn how to catch their own food, though they did prepare meals.

Today, however, people of all genders can work towards self-sustainability by staying prepared. Nowadays, it’s important for everyone to learn a variety of skills, from preparing a basic meal to starting a fire in an emergency.

It’s also important for women to know self-defense skills. Historically, women didn’t train with weapons, but today, society encourages women to be able to defend themselves. Many women take self-defense classes so that if they encounter a serious threat to their livelihood, they can make it out alive.

Although we all hope that we’ll never need to use self-defense or shoot a firearm, staying prepared for emergencies never hurts. Taking a firearm safety class will also teach you gun cleaning and maintenance skills, as well as the engineering and mechanics of a firearm, like how gas-operated firearms function, what an AR-15 muzzle brake does, and how sight lines work.

When you learn the skills that society forgot to teach you, you’ll gain self-confidence. These skills are intuitive, so it’s only natural that when you learn how to cook, create, and defend yourself, you’ll feel closer to Mother Nature.

  1. In B2B and niche areas like iGaming or enterprise software, it’s quite common for companies to have few public case studies because of NDAs and confidentiality agreements. That doesn’t automatically mean they’re inexperienced, but it does mean you should perform careful due diligence. I recently looked into a company in this category, and while https://sharkscode.com/ gives a broad overview of their services, it doesn’t provide detailed proof of past results. To verify their capabilities, it’s important to ask for anonymized examples of previous projects, technical breakdowns, or even client references under NDA. A well-prepared team should be able to provide enough evidence to demonstrate reliability and depth of expertise without violating confidentiality.
