This is a poem about how much I wish I could travel back to the countryside because I sometimes feel overwhelmed by big-city life. Also, I believe that in life, we often need small breaks in our daily routines and some escapes.
Here is my poem about finding that escape:Â
Green fieldsÂ
Big houses built from wood
In the forestÂ
Midst away.Â
It seems as if now
I couldn’t see you
The winds cover you
The smog from the cars around me
Hide youÂ
Telling me to stay away.Â
I’m letting you know I’m here.
No matter what nature does
No matter what geography tells you
No matter as if it seems as if
I’m away.Â
I hear cars honking around me.Â
Busses stoppingÂ
People screamingÂ
Chitter-chattering
Telling me toÂ
Never go away.Â
My routine every dayÂ
Repeats itselfÂ
Like some alarm clockÂ
Or record tapeÂ
Playing the same rhythmÂ
In dismay.Â
In my heartÂ
I no longer feelÂ
I no longer moveÂ
In my headÂ
Millions of thoughts crossÂ
OverÂ
Telling me and forcing meÂ
To stick with this lifeÂ
AnywayÂ
I last saw youÂ
In what feels like forever
But I know it was just
Weeks awayÂ
I last remember youÂ
In my dreamsÂ
Coddling me through the sunlight,Â
Warming me through the fire,Â
Consoling me through the water,Â
Everyday.Â
I wish you were here.Â
But I know you wish I were there more.Â
Even if you don’t
I’m telling you that
I miss youÂ
AnydayÂ
In every way.Â
I’m sure everyone has that one special place in mind that they miss. The place I think of is somewhere in nature, close to my city, but in the countryside. Whenever I miss it, I reflect on this poem and remind myself that I’ll be returning there soon, no matter how busy life gets. And I hope you can also look back fondly on that place.
