The Real Reason We’re Not Wearing Bras On October 13th

National No Bra Day is one of the top holidays that you should celebrate. It’s routine to put on a bra every day, so on October 13th, let’s break out of our social norms and go braless! So go ahead and leave those uncomfortable things at home.

This holiday also serves as a reminder for both women and men to get breast cancer screenings. Breast exams are one of the first steps to take in order to detect breast cancer. Going to the doctor is critical, but today is a reminder that you should regularly conduct at-home breast exams. Today, check your breast tissue for lumps, swelling, redness, and even pain.

This is a day to show support to those who fight breast cancer, which is the second most common cancer in women. According to cancer.org, the average American woman has a 13% chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime. That’s a 1 in 8 chance! So today, let’s learn more about breast cancer and do our part in supporting our strong cancer warriors.

One way to spread awareness of this holiday is to hashtag #NoBraDay and #NationalNoBraDay on social media. Social media posts are one of the best ways to spread breast cancer awareness.

If you are able to, you can also donate to the American Cancer Society or The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The money that these foundations raise goes towards patient treatment, screenings, and breast cancer research. Every donation counts, so make one if you can!

If you aren’t able to donate, you can start a fundraiser of your own to raise money for breast cancer foundations and spread awareness. Do something unique and fun that will get your community talking and invested in this concern.

No Bra Day isn’t just about the comfort of going braless; it also exists to help raise awareness of breast cancer. Hopefully you can spark some conversations about breast cancer today. Happy No Bra Day!
