Let’s talk about the Epstein files and accountability in the US vs. the UK, as well as around the world.
We are well aware of the files; we know what’s in them, and we have a good idea of who is in them. Despite that, we’ve seen redactions. The public has spoken up about and demanded that the government fully release these files. Most importantly, we need to hold those in power accountable for their actions detailed in the files.
While the US has been silent, the UK – and the rest of the world – has actually done something about it. The UK has stripped prominent individuals of their titles and investigated them for the allegations detailed in the files. Despite them being powerful people, the UK has shockingly held them accountable. It shows that people around the world know what accountability is, even though the US does not.
So, why isn’t the United States not doing the right thing here?
If I had to take an educated guess, I’d say it’s because of political power and control. The US would rather have those people in power who are in the files keep their positions, rather than take that power away and have them face the consequences of their actions. Sadly, that is just our reality right now. It shouldn’t be, but it is.
Let what the UK is doing vs. what the US isn’t doing sink in for a second. In the UK, a man who was the 8th in line for the throne was stripped of that possibility and arrested for his involvement. But in the US, our president, who has been convicted of felony and found multiple times in the file, as he was friends with Epstein, is still in power. The math is not adding up here.
As a whole, we Americans deserve a lot better than our government is treating us, especially for the survivors of Epstein abuse. We shouldn’t have to beg for justice when, across the world, this issue has already happened and continues to happen – and others, like the UK, are actually doing something about it.
Unfortunately, with the current administration, I don’t believe we will see the accountability we deserve.
Around the globe, the UK’s actions are the standard for what leadership looks like right now. This is what the US could and should be, but we are failing miserably. It’s a shame, but not surprising at all.
Maybe one day – sooner rather than later – this won’t be such a rare thing in the US. One day, maybe we won’t have to see other countries doing the right thing while we don’t. Maybe we’ll finally do what we should have been doing all along.
When we know better, we do better, right? So why aren’t we doing that now? We have done it before by impeaching our president, not once but twice. And, more recently, we expelled George Santos when we caught him committing multiple crimes, including laundering money. We’ve also held law enforcement accountable when they commit wrongful killings.
It’s about time to hold everyone in the Epstein files accountable.
We need to force people to face the consequences of their actions because it matters. The UK has shown that to us; now we need to do the same. Release the files. Investigate and arrest the people found responsible for committing crimes.
To quote “Spider-Man,” the US should know: “With great power comes great responsibility.” We have the power to do the right thing and use that power and responsibility to do the right thing. So what are we waiting for?

Multiple people who were at Epstein’s island, including victims of Epstein, have said Donald Trump did nothing wrong there. He went there, but many famous people did. Should he have gone there? No, but neither is he guilty of any crimes. The felony Trump was convicted of was bogus and the judge was very political. What should have only been a misdemeanor was unfairly turned into a felony just so they could go after Trump. Do you REALLY care so much about Epstein’s victims, or is this really about your intense hatred of Donald Trump? Be honest.
