How To Make Your Wedding Vows Unique

Woman Writing Wedding Vows

If there is ever a time to celebrate your relationship, it’s on your wedding day, and the ideal way to show your commitment and love is to write your own vows. Traditional wedding vows are lovely, but if you want your wedding to be unique and for the vows you say to truly mean something, writing your own can be the best thing you can do.

The key thing to know if you want to write your vows is that you’ll need to think carefully about exactly what to include to ensure you are saying what you mean in a unique way. Continuing this idea, here are some useful tips on how to make your wedding vows unique and beautiful.

Reflect On Your Journey

If you’re not sure what to say, one great idea is to reflect on the journey the pair of you have made together and talk about your own particular love story. You can start with how you met, especially if this is something unusual, such as through an executive matchmaking service where an expert determined that you would be perfect for one another

Think about all the moments that define your relationship from the start to this moment, and talk about how you’ve celebrated milestones and overcome challenges. You don’t have to be specific if these are quite private things, but you can still give an overview of the things you have been through together on your relationship journey.

Talk About Shared Interests

You could also consider including something about your shared interests in your vows. This could be hobbies you like to do together, for example. You might want to talk about a passion for cooking, hiking, reading poetry, the theater, or anything else that you enjoy doing together. Doing this will help to remind you of the things you have in common, and it’s a good way to reflect on the adventures (perhaps literal ones) that you’ve had together – you can promise more of the same in the future.

The best way to incorporate this idea into your vows is to talk about how these shared interests have brought you closer together and how your bond is stronger because of them, so continuing to do them in the future means your bond will strengthen even more.

Use Quotes Or Poems

If you really can’t think of what to say and you aren’t sure about your writing skills, then using quotes and poems could be an excellent idea. When you do this, you can still make your feelings clear, but instead of trying to write the words yourself, you can use words that someone else has already written in a way that really means something to you and, ideally, to your partner too.

Choose quotes that convey the emotions and feelings you want to tell your partner about, and they will instantly understand what you are trying to express. It’s even better if you can choose quotes from something that means something to both of you, such as a song you both love or a poem you’ve discussed in the past. In this way, not only are you expressing how you feel, but you’re making sure your partner will always remember the way you did it.

Remember, your wedding day is about you and your partner. Although it’s easy to get caught up in impressing your guests, your wedding vows are for your partner. If you use these tips and speak from the heart, your wedding vows will be unique and lovely.
