Former ‘Bachelor’ Star Is Paying Millions & Awaiting Sentencing After Fatal Car Crash

Chris Soules, best known as star of ABC’s “The Bachelor”, and his parents have been ordered to pay $2.5 million in a wrongful death lawsuit settlement following a fatal car crash in April 2017.

The former Bachelor and his parents Gary and Linda were ordered to pay the fine on Tuesday, the same day a judge delayed Soules’ sentencing. His lawyers argued that the 37-year-old’s pre-sentencing report shouldn’t include victim impact statements from the victims relatives that were given before Soules pled guilty, US Weekly reported. The lawyers ordered a new report be written.

Kenneth Mosher, 66, died after Soules allegedly rear-ended the farmer’s tractor two years ago in Aurora, Iowa. The reality star is accused of fleeing the scene and having alcoholic beverages and containers in his possession at the time of the crash. He was later arrested on a Class D felony charge.

In November 2018, Soules pleaded guilty to a lesser aggravated misdemeanor charge of information aid–leaving the scene of an accident.

WeAreIowa.com obtained court documents that state a January 2019 agreement is for “the total consideration of $2.5 million, Nancy Mosher, Matthew Mosher, Michael Mosher and the Estate of Kenneth Mosher (‘claimants’) hereby release and forever discharge Christopher Soules, Gary Soules, Linda Soules… from any and all liability whatsoever… arising out of an automobile accident that occurred on April 24, 2017.”

Soules will be sentenced in the summer after a new report is completed, according to the Des Moines Register. The former reality star faces up to two years in prison.

Soules starred in the 19th season of ABC’s “The Bachelor.” The 37-year-old got engaged to Whitney Bischoff at his family’s barn near Lamont. On May 28, 2015 the couple announced that they had called of their engagement.

Soules earned his fame by becoming the fan favorite during his time on the 10th season of “The Bachelorette” starring Andi Dorfman, where he placed third.

He also appeared on the 19th season of “Dancing with the Stars” with his partner, Witney Carson. At the midway of the competition, Soules suffered a calf injury during rehearsal on Disney week. He was eliminated on May 5, 2015 and finished 5th.
