7 Overplayed Country Songs You’ll Definitely Hear This Summer

There is nothing more that I love than going to country bars with my girlfriends on a Friday or Saturday night. The energy is always alive and thriving, the people are so much fun (and rarely creepy), and the drinks are strong. Plus, as an added bonus, you know the kind of songs you’ll be hearing all night.

However, there are a few songs that you are guaranteed to hear at some point throughout the evening. Although these songs may be overplayed or extremely  popular, you can’t help but love when they come on. Here’s the list of the seven songs you hear at every country bar that never get old:

1. Fishin’ in the Dark – Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

This song came out in 1987. 1987! Why is it still a Saturday night staple on every country D.J. or cover band’s playlist? I don’t even know. For the love of Luke Bryan, you can’t even dance to it!  Speaking of which…

2. Country Girl (Shake It For Me) – Luke Bryan

While I know this song is a banger, and you can’t help but love watching Luke Bryan shaking it for you, this song is so overplayed. Still, you’ll always catch yourself grabbing your friends and dragging them to the dance floor whenever it comes on.

3. Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy – Big & Rich

Okay, so this one is a total banger, and it is a huge hit for getting the party started at weddings, but good Lord. Every time? Really? I wanna ride a tractor out of that building everytime it comes on because it’s still so overplayed.

4. Man! I Feel Like a Woman – Shania Twain

No disrespect to the Queen of Country Music, but you will always hear this on a night out at a honky tonk, and you will always get your ass on that dance floor the second you hear “Let’s go, girls.” This is a classic, and I’m never mad when it comes on because it’s just that great.

5. Cruise – Florida Georgia Line

It is not 2012; I shouldn’t be hearing this every time I go to the bar. But, I still do. It was so overplayed when it first came out. They even made a pop version, so we could fall in love with it all over again. That’s how you knew it was popular then, but it still is!

6. Chicken Fried – Zac Brown Band

I bet this was probably the first song you thought of when you saw the title of this article. You literally can’t go to any country bar to have a cold beer on a friday night without hearing “Chicken Fried.” Ever.

7. Wagon Wheel – Darius Rucker

There are memes, podcasts, tweets, and even random conversations with strangers that mock the country community’s obsession with this song. But, those same people who knock it also sing along, so it can’t be that bad, can it?

Even if you aren’t into country music, you can’t deny that you knew at least two songs on this list! As much as we hate these songs because they are so overrated or overplayed, we can’t deny that they get us in the best mood and encourage us to dance our best. I’m always down for a good time and a fun, boot-scootin’ boogie.
