Is it just me, or has summer just flown by? I felt like the first half of the year dragged, and then summer flew. As fall approaches, we know the hours of sunlight in a day decline. Days like this can make it more difficult to find motivation and energy to get through the day. In order to get through these days, we’ve compiled some tips on how to create and sustain energy.
1. Create an Energizing Playlist
When you’re getting ready in the morning, play an energizing playlist. You can create your own or find a pre-made one on whatever you use for streaming. As you’re packing your lunch, getting ready, and commuting to work, the high-energy music can get you into a better headspace and in high vibration.
2. Eat Something Crunchy
We know it sounds crazy, but there is proof behind eating something crunchy and its increasing energy. When the mid-day slump hits, reach for a handful of nuts or some carrot sticks. The sound and the feel of the crunch should naturally make you feel more alert.
3. Hydrate
We know this one comes up in just about every wellness article, but there’s a reason for that. According to an article from Healthline, “Mild dehydration (fluid loss of 1–3%) can impair energy levels, impair mood, and lead to major reductions in memory and brain performance.”
4. Move Your Body
Make it a point to move your body at least every 90 minutes. Though your work may be consuming, moving your body will allow you to feel more awake and alert. When you need to use the restroom at work, use a further restroom. Park a little further than usual. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. All of these can provide you with a good burst of energy.
5. Soak Up Sun When You Can
As mentioned at the beginning of the article, reduced sunlight can negatively impact our energy levels. Being more intentional with getting outside and into the sunlight when we have it can help combat it. Taking a morning walk or catching some rays while the sun is setting can help us feel more in tune with nature. Not to mention, as fall continues, an opportunity to notice the beautiful colors of autumn while automatically bringing forth peace and energy.
6. Schedule Time to Pour Into Your Own Cup
Just as important as your daily to-do list is making yourself a priority. Put something in your calendar daily that allows you to feel more balanced, less burnt-out, and that makes you just as important a character in your life as all others. This could be something as simple as a 5-minute meditation, a weekly fitness class, or meeting a friend or loved one for a walk/coffee.
7. Sleep Consistency
Just like the water, this health tip is commonly discussed when looking into energy creation and motivation. Maintaining a steady sleep schedule allows our bodies to be physiologically prepared to take on the day.
As fall approaches, we hope that you enter it feeling energized and optimistic. Make time for yourself, stay active and hydrated, and stay connected with loved ones. What are your favorite ways to stay bright as the days dim more quickly? Let us know in the comments below!
