One Direction Is Celebrating Their 10th Anniversary In The Most Epic Way

via One Direction

In case you’ve been living under a rock, you may have missed the big news: it’s the 10th anniversary since One Direction became a band.

While we’re all eternally grateful for Simon Cowell and his courageous decision to form a band of five strangers and unique singers on the ‘X Factor’, we still can’t forget how far they’ve come since it happened. It’s hard to believe it’s been a decade since we first me the fab five.

To celebrate the milestone anniversary Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson collectively created an interactive website for the fans to enjoy. The website is complete with unseen footage, playlists created by the lads themselves, special video messages and so much more!

They even released new music!

That’s right, we got new content.

In addition to releasing never before heard songs, they also dropped some new remixes, stripped down versions and even collaborations on each others solo music.

However, none of us can enjoy the new content because in typical One Direction fashion, the fans crashed the website. So we had two minutes to enjoy the site and catch a glimpse before we got to actually enjoy anything.

And the fandom is pissed…. But not surprised. It’s kind of what they do-especially when it comes to fan voting awards and music video releases to name a few instances over the past decade.

And for the lucky few that did get to see the website for .25 seconds, this is the message you saw.

But we do have one snippet a fan was able to grab last night of an acoustic version of the song Happily off of their Midnight Memories album.

Zayn Malik’s high notes are still unmatched.

Honestly, this day is better than November 23, 2013 (aka 1D Day), the Best Song Ever video release day and the Night Changes music video combined. And only the fandom will remember the thrills we experienced on these days.

The timing is perfect as we’re still in quarantine and struggling mentally from the whirlwind year we’ve had. You know, because Niall, Harry and Louis all had to cancel tours this year and our tickets have essentially gone to waste. It’s a great way to spend our time and reflect on such happy times.

Naturally, Directioners are freaking the heck out over all of the excitement and have taken over Twitter with numerous hashtags (and have been for the past two days). Even those of us in our mid twenties (like myself) are fan girling at full capacity as if I was at a concert.

What’s even more adorable is that the lads have been updating their social media all day with heartfelt tweets, messages and throwback posts to help celebrate with their fans. And in typical 1D fashion we are still waiting for Harry and Zayn to make their official statement-we’ll probably be waiting for a few more hours for them to wake up. But until then, we have Niall, Louis and Liam leaving the sweetest comments under everyones posts to tie us over.

All in all, it feels good to be a 1D fan and to have this kind of moment in our lives. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, One Direction is not anything like the boy bands before them; they’re so much better purely by how much they adore and appreciate their fans. And I cannot wait for them to go on a reunion tour.
