All You Need to Know About Disney’s New Streaming Service

After years of much anticipation, Disney has finally announced some information about their new streaming service. And let me tell you, the cost in itself will cause your jaw to drop.

You can stream unlimited Disney movies and shows for only $6.99 USD a month. Disney+ drops on November 12th, 2019!

You can also purchase the service for $69.99 annually if you’d like a different option. Regardless, this price is significantly lower than Netflix’s price, especially after they announced the increase in prices earlier this year.

Disney CEO Bob Iger, confirmed that Disney+ is going to be geared towards young people and Disney fans alike. They won’t include any ABC news, ESPN or any other sports content aside from National Geographic to act as educational content. This is totally geared towards families.

In a statement, Iger said,

“We’re designing a product that we want to be accessible to as many consumers as possible. We just feel that Disney is loved by so many millions and millions of people around the world.”

And based on the impressive line up, they are definitely giving us every more reason to download this affordable service.

Disney+ will include almost all Disney movies, 18 of the 21 Pixar films, will feature new Disney films almost immediately after they leave theatres. Most Marvel films (as they are owned by Disney now too), and 100 Disney Channel Original films.

What most fans are looking forward to is the Disney Channel content that will be added. We can expect to see 5,000 episodes of Disney Channel shows! This means the chances are high that we can stream unlimited episodes of Lizzie McGuire!

Oh, and for those who care, you can also watch 30 seasons of The Simpsons! All thanks to the Fox acquisition.

So, you basically can watch everything from classics like Snow White, Bambi and Bedknobs and Broomsticks to the live version of Cinderella and Even Stevens. Not too bad of a line up if you ask my Disney loving heart.

While I commend Netflix for trying to become relevant in the kids shows discussion by creating their own animated content, they could never beat Disney and Nickelodeon who have dominated children’s entertainment for years.

This move by Disney to create something that will bring the entire family together to bond over its programming is genius. Plus it’ll bring awareness to shows and films for new generations to enjoy and open their eyes to. It also allows for fans to re-watch their favorites and become reacquainted. Plus it’s so damn cheap!

So until then, dust off your old VHS tapes and DVD’s to watch your favourite childhood shows and movies because we have to wait until November 12th to get all the goodies.
