DIY (Do it yourself) artsy painted wine glasses
What a fun activity to do with your fabulous girl friends. I’m sure you are thinking oh, yea I can totally see myself doing this project with a group of girls. Your girlfriends would really enjoy coming over to your place for an arts and craft project. Now when was the last time you and the girls did that? Not in a while… am I right!? Well, get to it and plan a girls night in. Pick up some finger foods to munch on. You can’t do this without the food. That’s like the best part. I’m ALL about the food… and a good music playlist!
Some of my favorite munchie foods:
- Cheese and crackers (serve apples, apricots, grapes, nuts and even apples) They are a great pair)
- Hummus and pita (if you are trying to cut back on the carbs….substitute the pita for carrots or cucumbers)
- Veggie platter (raw)
- Chicken cutlet (cut up into bite size pieces)
What you will need:
- Wine glasses (with wine steam attached)
- Acrylic paint
- Q-tips (pointy ones)
I recommend heading to the Dollar Store for the wine glasses, paintbrushes and q-tips if you would like to save the money. The acrylic paint you can pick up from Walmart. Buy a few different colors so your glass stands out. I bought a total of 4 colors. But, that’s not necessary as it’s your very own wine glass. Pick out as many or as few as you’d like to paint with.
If you are planning on doing this project with your friends, plan a night when you do not have to get up early for work the following next day. This project can take a few hours depending on how detailed you wish to make it. Don’t assume this is an activity that has to be done with another person. Not at all. It would be a great way to unwind for some after a long week.
For myself, I enjoy doing activities like this one alone. I find it very relaxing and therapeutic. I don’t have to always be around people to be having fun. I can find fun in almost anything I enjoy doing. It’s very healthy to be able to spend time alone and not have the feeling of “I’m so bored” I used to be like that until I took a step back and realized what makes me and happy.
For example, I enjoy running downtown Sarasota or by the beach especially when the weather is gorgeous out. Another thing that I love to do is blogging at Starbucks and ordering a coffee and a chocolate croissant. And sometimes when I need a pick me up I go and get my nails done. Something about sitting there and having someone pamper me makes me feel instantly amazing.
I learned over the years to find hobbies and actives I enjoy with friends and do them alone. The reason is because there will be time when your friend is busy and will not be able to spend time with you. So what are you going to do? Stay at home and mope all day because they are unavailable? No… that’s kind of pathetic. You go out and do what it is you had plans to do but just by yourself. You should never wait around. For no-one ever.
