Woman Enjoying Imperfect House With Plants and Cat

Let me preface this by saying: I love my home decor style. I love the plants that dangle precariously from ceiling hooks like botanical acrobats. The avalanche of throw pillows that have claimed my couch as their kingdom? Absolutely my favorite. And those vintage teacups? They’re not for tea, they’re home to bobby pins, earrings, and the occasional stray gummy vitamin.

But the truth is… if someone walked into my house unannounced on a Tuesday, they might wonder if I’m an eccentric artist, a Pinterest board gone rogue, or someone who just survived an indoor tornado with a flair for floral prints.

And that, my friends, is my aesthetic.

Shabby Chic Meets Slightly Unhinged

Welcome to the world of shabby chic chaos, where lavender sachets live next to charging cables, my cat rules the roost, and every room tells a story… some of them involving hot glue, caffeine, and a minor emotional breakdown over curtain lengths.

But here’s the thing:
In a world that feels overwhelming and overstimulating 90% of the time, curating my little space of cozy, plant-filled, slightly unhinged charm is how I take care of myself. It’s my therapy. My creative outlet. My comfort zone. And yes, sometimes my hiding place from the rest of the world (and Zoom calls).

My Home = My Soul (With Slightly More Dust Bunnies)

I genuinely believe that your space reflects your soul. And if mine looks like a vintage shop and a jungle had a baby… well, honestly, I’m not mad about it.

One of my favorite ways to breathe life (literally) into my space is by filling it with houseplants. Not only do they clean the air, they’re also the perfect passive-aggressive roommates. (They don’t talk back but will absolutely shrivel if you ignore them too long.)

Plants, Pillows & Peace of Mind

If you’re curious how I turn my mild chaos into peaceful coziness, I shared all my favorite indoor greenery secrets over on my blog, Going Green: A Definitive Guide To Indoor Plants

Spoiler alert: They don’t judge your snack drawer or your laundry pile. They just vibe.

It’s Not a Mess, It’s Personality

So if your home looks a little “lived-in” (think Christmas lights in July and a laundry chair), you’re not alone.

You don’t need a picture-perfect aesthetic. You just need a space that makes you smile when you walk in.

Even if that smile is followed by a sigh and a promise to finally organize that drawer. (You know the one.)

Terri is the boho soul behind Shabby Chic Boho, where she spills the tea (sometimes literally) on home decor, plant parenting, and cozy chaos. When she’s not rearranging throw pillows or talking to her houseplants, she’s probably writing, sipping something hot, and loving every second of her beautiful mess.
