What the Eyebrow Flash Really Means

Have you ever greeted a guy, and he replied with an eyebrow flash? You may wonder what he really means. “Is he trying to flirt with me?” you ask yourself. “Or is he trying to say hello?” 

The truth is, people see the eyebrow flash as a sign of attraction in some studies and cases. But otherwise, people mainly see it as a universal greeting. Nevertheless, some people do continue to say that the eyebrow flash communicates sexual attraction, especially if someone completes it in less than a second. It all depends on the context of the situation. 

With that said, a guy may say these seven things to you when he flashes his eyebrows: 

1. “Hey, I’m here cutie.” 

A guy will automatically wiggle his eyebrows to greet you and let you know that he’s now passing by you. He acknowledges that you’re adorable, and wants to lowkey let you know what he feels about you without any words. So, he’ll wink his eyebrows at you. 

2. “Damn, you’re hot.” 

This only happens if you don’t know the guy well. For example, you’re in a restaurant and  see a guy sitting across the room, staring at you. When you stare back at the guy, he winks his eyebrows at you. He just let you know he was checking you out and telling you that he finds you attractive. 

3. “What’s that, cutie?” 

This usually will happen during a conversation. Let’s say that you and the guy discuss the newest hit movie. Then, you ask him some unrelated question, which he doesn’t fully comprehend. So, he raises his eyebrows, gives you a sheepish smirk, and asks you, “What’s that?” 

4. “Oh, damn!” 

If the guy likes to laugh and wants to add his sense of humor into the mix, he will wiggle his eyebrows to convey a joke. This happens when he jokes about you being with one of the other guys. And usually, he will not only flash his eyebrows once, but twice, or multiple times to let you know. 

5. “Aren’t you such a cutie?” 

Sometimes, guys automatically wiggle their eyebrows quickly. They may not be aware of it, but usually in these cases, you and the guy joke around and goof off. The guy may enjoy your company a lot and starts laughing at your jokes while lowkey flashing his eyebrows. 

6. “You’re hot, but I don’t know how to tell you.” 

Guys may try to use the eyebrow flash to show you that they think you’re good looking and are attracted to you. He’s trying to flirt, but he doesn’t know how to approach the situation. Should he say hi or buy you a drink? Nah – he’ll lift his eyebrows instead. 

7. “I see you there!” 

He’ll mainly think of this when greeting you. Sometimes, you may walk towards the guy and say hi. Then, he may look up from his phone and wiggle his eyebrows before responding. In cases like these, the guy wants to let you know that he acknowledges your presence. 

Eyebrow flashes can mean a lot in different situations and scenarios. But even if they do mean a greeting, there’s always a hidden message behind the flash. If a guy does the eyebrow flash to you next time, you can now predict what he feels about you. You can either choose to respond back with another eyebrow flash or continue on with the conversation. Regardless of what you do, you and the guy are already comfortable with each other.
