1. Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac has been acting for over a decade. But his popularity began to grow back in 2017 when he bagged the role of Poe Dameron in the Star Wars movies. He has also starred in films like Ex Machina, Life Itself, Dune, and Scenes from a Marriage.

This year, the Golden Globe Award winner will star in The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

Set in the 1960s, this satirical play by Lorraine Hansbury follows a group of idealists living in New York. When their progressive ideas don’t reflect their reality, these dreamers must fight for their beliefs.

2. Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe made his acting debut as part of the wizarding world when he played the lead in the incredibly successful Harry Potter franchise.

Radcliffe has also starred in several other titles such as The Woman in Black, Now You See Me 2, Guns Akimbo, and The Lost City.

But this year, he’s swapping the cameras for the stage as he takes part in a revival of the cult-classic musical Merrily We Roll Along at the Hudson Theatre. The story follows three creatives who still try to figure out the ups and downs of their relationship after 30 years of knowing each other.

3. Gaten Matarazzo

Gaten Matarazzo is best known for playing the fun-loving Dustin Henderson in Netflix’s award-winning series Stranger Things

But Matarazzo is no stranger to a script as he has been performing on the stage for most of his young career.

In the past, he has acted in many big titles, including Dear Evan Hansen, Les Misérables, and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. This year, you can see him in the role of Toby in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which is showing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

4. Jodie Comer

Multi-award-winning actress Jodie Comer has found success on both sides of the Atlantic and has an impressive number of accolades to her name.

She quickly became a household name in the UK after her mind-blowing performance as the deadly assassin Villanelle in the BBC series Killing Eve. Since then, she has acted in movies like Star Wars, Free Guy, and The Last Duel

In 2022, she performed the one-woman play Prima Facie in the West End, which quickly earned 5-star reviews and Olivier Awards.

This year, it has revived on Broadway for a limited season, so book your tickets before they are gone. Comer is reprising her role as Tessa, a young barrister who is forced to tackle patriarchal power, the burden of proof, and her morals as she reaches the top of her game.

5. Lea Michele

Lea Michele is most famous for her role as Rachel in the hit musical TV show Glee, where she starred alongside Jane Lynch, Mathew Morrison, and Darren Criss. Since then, she has made a number of other TV appearances, such as in the movie Same Time, Next Christmas.

However, it is her on-stage career that is most impressive. She made her Broadway debut in 1995 in Les Misérables and since then has added many performances to her name, including Ragtime, Fiddler on the Roof, and Spring Awakening

This year, Michele has returned to the stage at the August Wilson Theatre in the role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, a role she was born to play. She won’t be performing every night, so be sure to check the dates.

6. Ben Platt

Ben Platt’s breakout role in Pitch Perfect truly helped him rise to fame in Hollywood. But he already had a taste for the stage, having starred in the outrageous musical comedy, The Book of Mormon, in 2015.

But his performance in Dear Evan Hansen was what led him to become one of the best-known and loved theater actors working today. It also bagged him the lead role in the 2021 movie adaptation of the same name.

Throughout his career, Platt also starred in the series The Politician and produced his own album. But nothing could keep him away from the stage, and this year, he is back in the acclaimed revival of the classic musical Parade at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

7. Laurie Metcalf

Two-time Tony Award winner Laurie Metcalf stars in this one-of-a-kind thriller alongside a star-studded cast that includes Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Paul Sparks (House of Cards), and Sophia Anne Caruso (Beetlejuice).

Metcalf herself has plenty of appearances under her belt, including roles in Lady Bird, JFK, and Scream 2. She has also appeared in some hit TV shows, such as 3rd Rock from the Sun, Desperate Housewives, The Big Bang Theory, and Roseanne

Her latest role at the Lyceum Theatre follows a couple who crash their car and seek shelter in an isolated mountain cabin. Though their hosts are gracious, the couple is stuck there due to a blizzard and quickly becomes concerned about the inhabitants, the noises in the walls, and their safety.
