What’s Up With Kanye? Everything We Know About His Recent Social Media Rant

Everyone knows that divorce can be messy. Everyone also processes emotions differently. Some tend to react in the moment while others take time to process on their own before speaking aloud. Now, if you follow pop culture, you know that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are in the midst of a divorce. And it would seem Kanye took the latter approach.

When their divorce was first announced, Kanye did not seem to have much to say publicly. However, over the past few days, Kanye has taken to his Instagram to share screenshots of text messages with Kim. He also started throwing insults at Kim’s current boyfriend, SNL star Pete Davidson. As of today, however, probably at the advice of his publicity team, Kanye’s Instagram has been wiped clean with the exception of two posts from today. An article from the N.Y Times features some of the following in a timeline of Kanye’s recent social media antics:

Mr. West posts a screenshot of a TikTok video featuring his daughter North on his Instagram, with a caption suggesting that her account had been created “AGAINST MY [Kanye’s] WILL.” Ms. Kardashian responds in an Instagram story, writing that “Kanye’s constant attacks” are “more hurtful” than “any TikTok North might create.”

Ms. Kardashian appears on the March cover of Vogue with accompanying photos of her and her children. Mr. West uploads some of the images in a collage on Instagram with the caption “GOD PLEASE BRING OUR FAMILY BACK TOGETHER.”

As mentioned, all of these posts are, since now, deleted. Yet Kanye, who is now referred to as Ye, continues to do things to draw attention. On Valentine’s Day, Kanye posted a picture of a truck full of roses he sent to Kim with a tag line “My vision is Krystal Klear.” He also went on a tirade a few days prior about his daughter posting videos on TikTok without his consent. An article from Asia One quotes Kim’s reaction with,

Kim — who is now dating Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson — subsequently hit back at Kanye’s “constant attacks” in her own post. She wrote: “Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.”

Today, literally within hours, Kanye has taken responsibility for his actions… well, in Kanye fashion. He wiped out all of his Instagram posts except for two recent ones. On these, he wrote: “I take accountability. I’m still learning in real-time. I don’t have all the answers. To be a good leader is to be a good listener. I’m working on my communication. I can benefit from a team of creative professionals, organizers, mobilizers, and community leaders. Thank everybody for supporting me.”

While we are sure the outbursts, name-calling, and harassment are nowhere near done, we pray that things stay as civil as possible for Kim and their children.

Some have speculated that these actions stem from Kanye’s mental health issues. In 2020, Kim Kardashian revealed that Kanye suffers from bipolar disorder, which was the reason behind his past outbreak on social media. With the current situation between Kim and Kanye, fans are speculating that his mental health has worsened again. Kanye himself has been open about his health issues, calling these manic episodes a health issue. But things are escalating now more than ever.

Whether it is a mental health blunder or the processing of recent life events, a certain amount of accountability needs to be held by Kanye. He needs to realize the impact his words and actions have on Kim and his family. We hope for health and happiness for the entire family.
