Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star Will Finally Be Removed

The West Hollywood City Council just announced that they have voted to remove Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame star.

Last week, someone vandalized the star, and authorities recently charged the suspect. On July 25th, one day after the incident, Austin Mikel Clay turned himself in. Authorities released him on $20,000 bail.

The Walk of Fame features over 2,800 stars honoring people in broadcast television, motion pictures, music, radio and theater.  EM Stuart created it in 1953 to

“maintain the glory of a community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four corners of the world.”

Since then, the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been a tourist attraction, inducting an average of 24 new stars a year. Over the past two years, vandals have peed on Trump’s star, destroyed it (twice), built a wall around it, and covered it with anti-hate stickers.

According to CNN, Trump had to pay $30,000 for the ‘creation and installation of the star in 2007 after the chamber approved his nomination’.Twitter wasted no time in sharing their feelings on the matter.

Some responded with humor, suggesting the star be replaced honoring the person who recently destroyed the star.

While some Twitter users found it odd that people such as Bill Cosby and Kevin Spacey, whom Hollywood has put under fire for sexual assault allegations (and some pending trial) still have stars on the Walk of Fame.

While some took a stronger stance on the issue immediately pointing out the hypocrisy. It’s ironic that we only want celebrities on our side when it benefits our platform; otherwise, we deem it as “out of place” or “uneducated.”

America has never had a President who is a former “celebrity.”

Amidst the craziness…Mark Hamil was quick to offer a replacement for Trump’s star.

It’s only a matter of time before Trump takes to Twitter to bash the West Hollywood City Council for removing his star. It is no secret that ever since Trump’s election into office, political tension has been at an all-time high. Due to the historic nature of the Walk of Fame, controversial people are not usually removed, so Trump will be the first one to receive this dishonor.
