You’re working and making money, and maybe on payday you have a little extra money. You could blow that on clothes, entertainment, booze, or anything else you can think of, or you could use that money to help make a change in the world.
When you think of celebrities, who and what come to mind? Are they amazing at singing? Are they incredible at acting? They probably are, but there’s something else some celebrities do that may shock you. They give back.
Why should we give back? Because there are people in need. There are many people in the world who are less fortunate than we are. My favorite way to give back is to support and organization called “Shania Kids Can.” It’s a program to help underprivileged kids reach their full potential founded by Shania Twain. She started this program because as a kid, she struggled with poverty and even had to go to school without a lunch.
Shania Kids Can helps with a variety of problems, some of which have personally affected me, too. These kids who need the things that this program offers may or may not have a supportive family. Some of them go to school without a lunch. The program helps with support and nutrition.
Another thing Shania Kids Can helps with is social and psychological support. That’s the thing I take the most seriously in this program and why I support it so much. Imagine kids needing therapy and counseling due to psychological problems who can’t get the support they need. Shania Kids Can is a program that can help.
Shania Kids Can also helps kids who have been bullied. I was bullied, so I know how these kids feel and appreciate that Shania Twain is able to help.
Some of the kids who benefit from Shania Kids Can need academic support. Like these kids, I struggled academically. I had reading comprehension problems, and I needed extra support in math, as well as in history and science. We want all of our kids in school to be educated the proper way.
Shania Kids Can can help kids grow.
The program also teaches practical life skills, personal skills, and talent development. They give these kids opportunities to go on field trips when their families can’t afford to send them. Kids always love and cherish the field trips the program sends them on.
Shania Kids Can selects schools across both the United States and Canada to benefit from its program. I feel this program needs to be part of all schools nationwide in both the United States and more kids need this program. I really wish I had a program like this when I was a kid. I don’t just support this program to give back to Shania Twain, the woman who inspired me to write and advocate. I support Shania Kids Can because it is revolutionary.
