How To Have A Better Day Off Than Ferris Bueller

When it comes to days off, there isn’t much that can top Ferris Bueller’s day off (if you haven’t seen the film, you REALLY  must). However, you cannot spell impossible without possible, meaning that you can, in fact, have a better day off than the loveable protagonist – oh, and we certainly do not recommend you pull a sickie, either!

With your (legitimate) day off, you have 24 hours to do whatever you want. No responsibilities, no alarm clock and not a care in the world. The only thing that you have to make sure is that you are fit and ready to return to work the next day (assuming you don’t have the next day off, as well).

So, what could you do on your day off?

Sleep in All Morning

You could sleep in and not get out of bed until the afternoon. Yes, this sounds like a waste of a day to many, but who doesn’t yearn for an extra five minutes when the alarm clock so rudely interrupts that great dream you had? The worst part is when you hit snooze, but the dream is gone forever (It’s always just before the good bit, isn’t it?)

Catching up on sleep is good for you, especially if you are the kind of soul who works both day and night, dedicated to the very end. If you’ve nothing to get up for, go on and treat yourself – we are not going to judge you.

Go Out and Explore

Remember what Ferris said right at the end of the film? “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

He’s right, you know. Minutes and hours soon turn into days and weeks – before you know it; you have been standing still for years. When you have the opportunity to get out and explore the world, you had better take your chance.

Whether your idea of an adventure is a road trip, going out with friends or one of the many walking tours in London, it is good to step outside of your comfort zone every once in a while. There is an adventure waiting for you just on the other side of your door!

Game Day

Does your idea of the perfect day off consist of you, the gaming console and order-in food? If so, then high five! Us gamers,  know that in order to take on a quest, you need not ever leave the comfort of your sofa. Here, you can fight your way through all manner of worlds and characters.

Whether your game of choice is one of the popular RPG games on the market or taking on anyone who dares to cross your path in various online modes, with the right game, you can easily lose track of time. We do recommend giving your thumbs a  break in short intervals throughout the day because there is nothing worse than gamer’s thumb. Yes, it is a real thing.

Visit Friends and Family

If you have friends and family who also have the day off, why not make the effort to go and visit? With no work to worry about, you can lose yourself over a bottle (or two) of wine and have a good catch-up.

Within the confines of the normal working week, you are limited to evenings and weekends.  When you and your bestie both have the day off, you know what to do!

However you choose to spend your day off is completely up to you; just make sure to make the most of it because sooner than you know, that alarm is going to be waking you up in the morning once again.
