Living Life One Pinterest Fail At A Time

Pinterest is a beautiful place. It is a productive land that I like to venture into to stare at delicious recipes, engage in encouraging poetry and even dream that someday I will be able to have the most beautiful, expensive, outrageous Harry Potter themed birthday party. If you haven’t lost an afternoon craft surfing or questioning all of your wardrobe choices on this adventurous site, you haven’t lived. The question is: have you ever attempted to do anything that you have ever found on there?

I know that it can be incredibly intimidating when you find something cool on Pinterest to try and do it yourself. I have successfully made some crafts and received minimal praise for how they turned out. I have tested out a few of the recipes and have yet to give myself or someone else food poisoning. I have even tested out a few natural face masks only to turn as orange as Donald Trump (pre-election) once. The thing that I always found myself curious about was trying a workout plan. Correction – A diet plan. Bigger correction – Anything that says fast and easy way to lose weight!

The one day I was looking up different yoga poses when I noticed the “Lazy way to lose weight” with a cute little honey bear next to it and all the ingredients that I have at home. Like any other lazy person who would be happy to finally lose their muffin top, I became highly interested and began my research. There were a lot of different places that agreed with this claim, by mixing hot water, cinnamon and honey together your metabolism will speed up and you will lose weight fast (It also states that it helps with energy, cholesterol, arthritis, colds, and bad breath!). Of course, that sounded easy enough, I have all of these ingredients at home, why not give this a try!

After a month of drinking this fun concoction, I have to say that Pinterest is a damn liar. Whoever came up with this “ingenious” idea is probably the CEO for a toilet paper company. While this beverage is a nice switch up from my green tea and tasted good, it most certainly wreaked havoc on my digestive system. When they said it is a quick and easy way to lose weight, they weren’t kidding; And by that, they mean in the bathroom. As far as the other things it says it helps with, I may have more energy, or it may just be my excitement about Taylor Swift putting out new music, I don’t know. No one has told me I have had bad breath lately, but I also haven’t made out with anyone recently. I haven’t had a cold or cholesterol issues, and as far as arthritis is concerned, well I’m thirty, everything hurts now.

The Ultimate Ginger View: If you are looking for a way to get some water in your life, go for it! If you are looking for something nice to drink, excellent! If you are looking for a natural laxative and are fully stocked with toilet paper, go for it! If you are looking for a speedy and surefire way to lose weight, look somewhere else. While Cinnamon and Honey are a delicious combo together, the only way that you will be losing weight is in the bathroom. There is no way around it, diet and exercise are the only way to go when it comes to losing weight. And maybe avoiding all of the delicious recipes on Pinterest.
