The Only Mojito Recipe You’ll Need This Summer

With summer coming around the corner, it’s time to get ready for everything summer. This means hangouts, bonfires, beach days, and of course, summer drinks. What better way is there to get into summer than making a delicious home-made summer drink? This mojito recipe is perfect for a family occasion, picnic, a day at the beach, by the poolside, or just simply for a fun GNO. Give it a try! I promise you won’t regret it.

Here is my home-made Mojito recipe:

What you need:

  • Lemons
  • Sugar
  • Mint leaves
  • White rum
  • Lime (optional)

Step 1: Squeeze the Lemons

This is the hardest part of the job unless you have a juicer. If you really want a fresh taste for your drink, you will need to buy a lot of lemons and squeeze the juice out of them. To fill a regular juice jug, you will need 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, but I double the recipe when I am trying to fill a punch bowl.

Step 2: Boil Water

In a saucepan, add one cup of water and one cup of white sugar. Then, put the heat to medium. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Turn heat to low and add a few mint leaves and stir around in the saucepan, but take them out once they start to turn brown (10 minutes).

Step 3: Add the Lemon Juice

Put the sugar water into a bowl and add the lemon juice. Next, add an extra 2-4 cups of water to the mix. The amount depends on how you prefer your lemonade to taste.

Step 4: Add the Rum

This is the most important step! You can’t forget the alcohol! I usually just estimate how much Rum to add, and the amount you prefer depends on how strong you want your mojito to be. I would estimate that a cup would suffice.

Step 5: Add the Garnishes

Take a lime and cut it into slices, then throw these slices into the mix. Lastly, grab the rest of the mint leaves and throw them in too. Stir the mixture around until you get the fresh, minty, lemonade mojito taste.

Lastly, don’t forget to put your mojito mix into the refrigerator to cool off because it will still be hot from being boiled. If you are short on time to allow it to cool before your friends arrive, just add ice! This recipe is extremely simple, the only difficult part can be getting the lemon juice if you don’t have a juicer. Overall, it is definitely worth it, and I have received many compliments about this drink!
