Stay Cool: 5 Refreshing Drinks To Keep You Hydrated This Summer

drinks

We hear the same thing every summer: “Make sure to stay hydrated!” The more the temperature climbs, the more we rely on ice-cold bottles of water to keep our bodies cool. Water may seem like the only drink that’ll do the trick, but there are so many more fun ways to hydrate this summer. Here are five fun drinks to quench your thirst during this hot summer season!

1. Coconut Water

Coconut water, which contains the liquid inside of coconuts, is a great alternative to water. It tastes sweet, smooth, and refreshing! Coconut water is hydrating because it contains a variety of electrolytes, like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Many stores stock coconut water, and this refreshing drink often has few additional ingredients.

2. Wildberry Watermelon Smoothie

Who doesn’t love a good smoothie? Cool off with a wildberry watermelon smoothie this summer! Simply blend 1 cup of frozen wild blueberries, 2 wedges of fresh watermelon, the juice of ½ a lemon, the juice of ½ a lime, 2 sprigs of fresh mint, and 3-4 oz. of coconut water at high speed until smooth. You’ll love this delicious drink that prioritizes both health and hydration!

3. Mango- and Pineapple-Infused Water

Add a fruity twist to your water with some mango and pineapple! Cut mangos and pineapples into small chunks, then fill a large jar with cold water and add the fruit. Refrigerate overnight to allow the fruity flavors to infuse. This water tastes best within 24 hours of infusing.

If you’re not a fan of tropical flavors, you can mix and match any combination of fruits to put your own spin on this fruit-infused water.

4. Homemade Strawberry-Lemon Soda

Ditch store-bought soda and make your own fizzy drink to beat the summer heat! Pour 1 pound of hulled strawberries and 1 cup of lemonade in a blender and process until puréed. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve and transfer it to a large pitcher. Then, pour 1 bottle of sparkling water into the mixture, stirring until blended. Serve over ice for a more refreshing taste!

5. Homemade Electrolyte Power-Up

When the summer heat leaves you dragging, this simple drink will rejuvenate your body. All you need is 1 ½ cups of coconut water, ½ cup of orange juice, 2 tablespoons of lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Combine all ingredients in a large container and stir until the salt dissolves. Then, add ice to keep it cool!

These delicious beverages are perfect for keeping you cool in the summer heat! You’ll love these fresh twists on your favorite drinks!
