Here’s Your Last-Minute Summer Bucket List

Doesn’t summer go by in a blur? We start with a million plans on our bucket list that our schedules can’t work with. Before we know it, we see Halloween decor at our local Home Goods. That’s typically when panic ensues: you didn’t check off everything on your bucket list, and now you scramble to have some fun before it gets too cold outside.

Well, the last day of summer is September 22 this year, which gives us a few more weeks to soak up the sunshine. And we have enough last-minute summer bucket list activities to fit any personality type. Read along to find a summer plan that will fit your vibe.

1. For the Adventurer

You can still enjoy summer thrills without having to travel too far. A spontaneous day trip can offer action-packed activities that you may not even know exist in your area. Try a new hiking trail for breathtaking views and wonder-filled photo ops by waterfalls and mountains. If you’re up for a challenge, find nearby water activities, such as kayaking or paddleboarding. Extend this active day by camping under the stars. For those planning a getaway to the vibrant desert city, consider an RV rental Las Vegas to explore nearby attractions with comfort and flexibility.

2. For the Foodie

Summer is a great season to go all out on food. It’s hard to avoid the aroma when walking by food trucks, farmers’ markets, and restaurants with outdoor seating. Check your local city’s event site for the next food festival. You’ll have a variety of cultures ready to transport you to their countries through food. For a more upscale experience, check to see if restaurant week hasn’t passed in your area. You can choose from participating restaurants offering limited-time menus at discounted prices. If you prefer to indulge at home, host a themed BBQ, like a tapas night.

3. For the Creative

For a creative bursting with energy and living out loud, you can find expression through art, which can include activities such as dance, artwork, or theatre. Pop-up art exhibits offer a fun way to expose yourself to unique visuals in an immersive and interactive way, such as illusion art or tech art. To see art in action, check out your local performing arts center for unforgettable dance, theatre, and concert performances. Better yet, join in the fun and take a class in painting or dance.

4. For the Social Butterfly

While you can enjoy summer with loved ones, you can also meet new people when you go to social events. Festivals draw in many people yearly because they bring like-minded people together for the same interest (think a music or cultural festival). Themed fairs provide the same focus, such as a Renaissance or book fair, where you can bond with strangers over the same interests. For a more intimate gathering, try a picnic at your local park or winery.

5. For the Homebody

When you’re in a chill mood, enjoy a summer breeze on your balcony, doing whatever hobby you’re in the mood for. Create your cozy summer nook on your balcony, patio, or by your window. You can add a hammock, string lights, and your favorite plants. Designate this area for your favorite solo activities, such as a spa night, where you whip up a homemade banana and honey face mask. If you feel nostalgic, create a scrapbook of your favorite summer photos, or learn how to crochet a bikini top for your next beach trip.

The last days of summer do not require flights or long road trips. You just need to seek the fun that is undiscovered in your area. Whether you’re chasing thrills or soaking in the sun from your porch, there’s a summer activity for every mood. Make these final warm summer moments count before crisp fall air takes over.
