This Poem Will Help You Heal From Your Loss And Longing

This poem explores loss, longing, and passionate love but it also offers hope for healing. The grief of losing a lover and the judgment that grieving people often face inspired me to write this poem.

As she saw the stars shining above,
For her, that was hope, that was love.
Heading into the dark night,
Her love for him gave her light.

Covering her eyes from those evil stares,
Churning through her worst nightmares,
Trudging through a night so cold,
Without him, she had no one to hold.

In the middle of a lightning storm,
Longing for her lover to keep her warm.
By the light of the full moon,
Thinking of seeing him very soon.

As she saw the stars shining above,
For her, that was hope, that was love.

She carried on to his grave,
To her passions, she was a slave.
Her mind full of aching desire,
Flickering and setting her heart on fire.

Sitting in that earthy mess,
With her head wilted with distress
Agony piercing her womb,
As she crouched beside his tomb.

All she wanted to do now was die,
To leave everything and say goodbye.
Days and days of despair,
Nobody knew how much she cared.

But as she saw the stars shining above,
For her, that was hope, that was love

But as she promised, she lived on,
Long after he was gone.
Even though they were miles apart,
She continued to love him with all her heart.
With a smile so wistfully wry,
She looked up at the night sky.
And as she saw the stars shining above,
She realized the true meaning of love.

When we unexpectedly lose someone we love, our grief can devastate us, even when others don’t approve of the person we lost. But in grief, there is always hope that we can discover what love truly is.
