6 Reasons Sleeping Naked Is Actually Good For You

Many people wear pajamas, large tees, or other types of comfortable attire in bed. However, some people like me like to sleep without anything on. I have always slept naked, and it is very comfortable. Moreover, it turns out there are some health benefits associated with sleeping naked.

Here are 6 reasons sleeping in the nude can actually make you healthier:

1. You get better sleep

According to the National Sleep Foundation, the ideal bedroom temperature for getting restful sleep is 60–67°F (15.6–19.4°C). Therefore, sleeping naked is one way to keep your body’s internal temperature low. Plus, body temperature is a key part of the circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is a biological clock that regulates when you sleep and wake up. Sleeping naked can help the skin cool off faster, which may help lower your body temperature and thus allow you to fall asleep sooner.

2. You will be less stressed

As mentioned above sleeping naked will also help you to get a better night’s sleep. And proper rest helps to restore normal cortisol levels, which improve your stress levels regardless of what’s happening around you.

3. You can lose weight

Yes, that’s right. You can lose weight by sleeping naked. Sleeping naked keeps your body temperature cool, and a study conducted by the US National Institutes of Health found that keeping yourself cool while you sleep speeds the body’s metabolism. This is because your body creates more brown fat to keep you warm. Brown fat produces heat by burning calories (300 times more heat than any organ in the body), and this boosts your metabolism all day long to help you lose weight.

4. Your skin will look better

Your body is often covered by multiple layers. Instead, give your body a chance to air out and breathe! This can lower the risk of skin diseases that are caused by restricted skin. Moreover, sleeping naked increases the release of growth hormone and melatonin, both of which have anti-aging benefits.

5. Sleeping naked is good for your private parts

According to Health, airing your privates at night is good for you.

For women: Yeast infections thrive when conditions are moist, so not having any layers covering your vagina will help reduce excess moisture. For men: Sleeping naked helps lower core body temperature, which helps men to have better semen quality.

6. You will gain confidence

Sleeping naked makes you more comfortable in your own skin. As your comfort with your body increases, so does your self-esteem and confidence. If you decided to sleep naked, you would want the first layer of your mattress softer than usual and friendly with the skin. A pillow top mattress would be a great option.

We wear clothes all day, every day, so why would we want to wear clothes to bed? Not only do I find sleeping naked to be quite comfortable, but as you can also see — it is also good for your health. Think before you put your pajamas on and try to sleep naked; you will reap some amazing benefits.
