Why Logic’s Music Will Pull On All Your Heart Strings

With discrimination going on all over the world, we need to be very grateful that we have people who try their bests to revoke these issues. Each person who stands up for what they believe in and uses their talents to create a stand in the world is known to have great strength in my mind. Each person can and hopefully will make a great difference in this world, to the point of changing the everlasting effects from the past. As society evolves and changes, we – as humans, need to evolve and change with it. We change our beliefs, our desires and our dreams to match or to test society for it to continue growing as well.

There is this one remarkable artist who uses his talents to create a difference in the world. To inspire people to push through the pain of daily lives, and find their best selves. To become who they want to be and to not let anyone or anything get in the way of their dreams. This man writes about everything from racial comments, to equality, to sexual orientation, to following your dreams, and he does it so freaking well!

Now that I have your attention, maybe I should mention who it is: Sir Robert Bryson Hall II…aka, LOGIC. The man behind the social change. The man who uses his voice, and creativeness to start a movement that’ll help people all over the world.

His latest album; “Everybody” was released in 2017. You may be familiar with a few of these rocking tunes but for the sake of the article, I am only going to touch on a few songs and leave a list of the rest for you to check out on the bottom of the page. Under each song title, you can find a little description of what he wanted the song to represent and his own thoughts with the songs.

Welcome to the Everybody review.

Hallelujah The message behind this song is that everyone is equal, that everyone is beautiful and that everyone should open up their minds to understanding different concepts.

The overall vibe of the song is Logic saying, “Hey, here’s my take. Get ready for what I’m about to say world because I’m about to say some real shit.” – Logic

“Music does not discriminate, music is made to assimilate”

Everybody Logic promotes racial equality while interweaving his personal encounters with racism.

“I just knew it was something that I wanted to say. I just felt compelled, and I didn’t even really still know about the whole concept of the album yet like I had this idea in my mind, but this is just something I really needed to say.” – Logic

“Everybody people, everybody bleed, everybody need something. Everybody love, everybody know, how it go.”

Killing Spree “Killing Spree” is Logic’s way of questioning our society and it’s misuse of social media and technology.

“So this song, very simply, is about social media, straight up and the things that we glorify and focus on in social media and it’s not necessarily a judgmental song. This is not like, ‘Oh you’re so focused on this and that.’ But it’s just like, we’re literally in a day in age where somebody’s leaked news or a viral video of somebody fighting or all this, can trend over what’s happening politically in our country and that’s fucking crazy.” – Logic

“Ass, titties, pussy, money, weed, everywhere I look, a killing spree. All the things they wanted me to be Is all the things that I turned out to be”

Take it Back This is a song about Logic’s life. What he went through as a child and who he is today.

This one is like, “I am myself.” On “Take it Back” it’s “This is me and this is who I am and you might not like this story, straight up.” It is about what I have heard. This is this much of what people have told me or said to me. It’s like “You aren’t black. You are black. You’re here. You’re there. You’re this or that.” I tweeted something the other day and I said, “Everyone, it is our job to fight for equality of man. It is our job to fight against oppression and racism, hatred, homophobia and just all around discrimination.” Somebody was like, “Lol. Logic, that white mothaf*cker ain’t never gone through oppression and don’t’ know shit about racism or discrimination with his blue eyes, dumb mothaf*cker,” or some shit like that. It’s literally the definition of what I’m discussing and that’s what I face every single day and that’s what we face every single day as people. Whether we are people of color or people in general. There’s always somebody that wants to say something but I think that it’s really funny by someone’s logic, they were like, “Oh you’re talking about fighting oppression and discrimination and racism. You’re white. What do you know about that?” – Logic

“Everybody wanna tell me what I am, what I am not. You ain’t black, you a mothaf*ckin’ white boy. Shut ya mouth, do it right boy, aight boy? Man why you such a hype boy? Why you always talk about being black? Skin too white, n*gga fuck that.”

1-800-273-8355 – Most of you readers have heard this song and many of you really love the meaning behind this song. This song is here to show people that suicide is not the answer, that giving up on life is never the right choice to make.

“‘So the first hook and verse are from the perspective of someone who is calling the hotline and they want to commit suicide. They want to kill themselves. They want to end their life. When I jumped on a tour bus that started in Los Angeles, California and I ended in New York City and did a fan tour where I went to fan’s houses and shared meals with them, hung out with them, played them my album before it came out. Them along with other people on tour, just fans that I met randomly, they’ve said things like, “Your music has saved my life. You’ve saved my life.” And I was always like, “Aw so nice of you. Thanks.” And I give them a hug and shit but in my mind, I’m like, “What the fuck?” And they’re really serious. And they that shit on their arms and get shit like lyrics that save their lives and in my mind, I was like, “Man I wasn’t even trying to save nobody’s life.” And then it hit me, the power that I have as an artist with a voice. I wasn’t even trying to save your life. Now, what can happen if I actually did? And it’s beyond just this song. It’s the whole album. What can happen if I took myself out of my comfort zone and made a whole album about everybody and everybody’s struggles including my own which is one I’ve never done. What if I silenced my own fear and I say, “I’m scared to talk about my race. I’m scared to talk about the state of this country but I’m going to do anyway. I’m going to persevere. Man, how many lives can I really save then?” – Logic

“I know where you been, where you are, where you goin’, I know you’re the reason I believe in life. What’s the day without a little night? I’m just tryna shed a little light, It can be hard. It can be so hard, But you gotta live right now. You got everything to give right now.”

The other songs on the album that you have to check out are; America, Ink Blot, Waiting Room, Anziety, Black Spiderman, AfricAryaN, Mos Definitely and Confess. Even if this is the only thing you do today, you won’t regret a single moment of it. This album speaks the cold hard truth about life so if you love rap music, or just enjoy a good song… Take a listen and see for yourself.

Let Logic inspire you and help you take another perspective on your daily life.
