Cheating can be one of the most devastating experiences that you can have. It can upend lives and even tear apart families. That being said, there are moments when the circumstances of cheating are so shocking or ironic, we’re left reeling. Even if they didn’t happen to us. I poured over Reddit and surveyed acquaintances to find the best stories that’ll leave you forever grateful for fidelity.
Here are the shining stars of the Two-Faced Liars Club:
1. … the cops removing them was a nice anniversary gift.
“My mom came home to our old farm property to find my ex step-dad porking his girlfriend in the front yard. On their 35th wedding anniversary. She called the cops and had them both removed.” – takhesis
2. Going to call it and say Jeff is a tool (and not a very useful one).
“There was a lot of yelling, 99% of it coming from me. I have to think he set it up this way out of spite or something but I walked in on him and his ex on the day I was supposed to move in with him. My car was full of stuff and I was carrying something in and… there they were. I mean okay, fine you want to cheat on me and have a miserable relationship with your ex that only lasts two months that’s your call. But you could’ve told me all that before I moved all my shit out of me apartment. God dammit Jeff. :p” – AbortRetryImplode

“My girlfriend of 5 ½ years cheated on me while I was asleep in the next room (in our bed). I found out the next day. I remember her coming in to kiss me at some point in the night… never had the stones to ask whether it was before or after.” – is_not_chicago.
4. Now that’s just plain cruel…
“Walked in on my girlfriend while she was having sex with another guy. ‘What are you doing here?!’ she says. ‘You gave me a key, remember? I ended up not working today and wanted to surprise you.’
15 years later she reaches out, leaves me a message that she’d like to talk. I figure she’s doing some 12-step thing or something and wants to make amends. Nope. She wanted to try to sell me on Amway.” – EBone12355
Furthermore, on social media, I asked for cheating horror stories. And did it deliver!
5. This guy’s commitment to being shady is baffling.
“There was that guy I was talking to a couple years ago, we were supposed to be going to a Charlie Daniels Band concert in [North Carolina]. Then all of a sudden something came up the day of and he couldn’t go, and went silent. So I went to an event in downtown Greer with one of my friends. Ran into him… And his wife and child. Apparently she decided not to go to her sister’s after all. He had a “single” Facebook with multiple friend and everything.” Jessica*, 33
And here I thought the devil went down to Georgia; turns out this hubby was going to North Carolina!
6. Call this one karma?
“There was the time my friend’s husband tried to cheat on her but couldn’t get it up.” Brenda*, 37
He was up to something, but clearly not in the way he wanted to be.
7. Now that’s a BS excuse if I’ve ever heard one.
“I had someone tell me they cheated, because the other person reminded them so much of me that they couldn’t help themselves.” Morgan*, 28

8. Right, her story totally adds up.
“My favorite one a girl told me when I caught her getting up from between a guy’s legs I had never met while me and he dated; she dropped something and he pushed her head all the way down his privates.” Adam*, 27
Perhaps she was offering a helping hand? That’d be one clever cover up for cheating…
9. A guy took advantage of this sweet, trusting gal big time.
“My ex-husband thought he was so smart. He had cheated before and I’d taken him back because I’m a big believer in marriage. Turns out I was just a big believer in his lies! He started to download those texting apps on his phone that give you a number to use. I logged in from my phone (he never even changed his password!) one day when I got suspicious. The number he was texting was for an escort service. I immediately confronted him, but that was my final straw.” Anne*, 31
Maybe his new friend can escort him to the divorce lawyer to sign those papers.
10. Yikes. Why are you still friends?
“My best friend is my first girlfriend. Years after we dated, she and her girlfriend at the time were roommates with me and my now ex-girlfriend. For a while, I’d been getting weird vibes whenever my bestie and my girlfriend were in the room together. I confronted them about it and was essentially told I was being paranoid. I couldn’t get ahold of my girl one day, so I messaged my friend’s girlfriend and she agreed to check on things when she got home.
When she got there, the door to my bedroom was locked and she heard them both inside! I told her where the key was and she walked in on her girlfriend and mine, right in the middle of getting frisky! A fight erupted and I heard it all over the phone. The worst part was my mom telling me I was asking for it because I let them move in. And yeah, I’m still friends with my first girlfriend.” Jade*, 36

These awful cheating stories made me take a second look at love and look extra closely for any red flags. I’ve been cheated on in nearly every relationship. You can’t really blame me for being skeptical. However, while disasters like these ones can happen, it’s important to keep your heart open. A relationship with love, fidelity, and trust is absolutely possible, and you don’t want to drive someone away because you assume they’ll cheat.
