6 Strategies To Keep Your Mind Busy After A Breakup

Breaking up is hard, especially when our current world makes it hard to meet new people. Whether your relationship lasted for years or just a few months, it doesn’t make the heartache any less painful. The loneliness and feelings of abandonment may make you feel like you’re not good enough. You may also feel betrayed or disappointed.

While time will eventually heal these wounds, you may not know how to move on from your past relationship. If you’re coping with a broken heart, you can use these six strategies to keep your mind busy while you move on.

1. Give yourself time to grieve.

If you just went through a breakup, chances are you’ll experience some form of grief. Grief comes in a few stages – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Think of the five stages of grief as stages on the way out of your sadness and take as much time as you need before moving on with your life.

2. Remember to sleep and eat well.

The most important thing to remember is that when you are experiencing a tremendous amount of stress and sadness, taking care of yourself and getting proper rest can be more challenging than usual. You might feel that you cannot sleep or that you cannot eat, but you need to make yourself do both of these things. Sleep deprivation and skipping meals will only make you feel worse.

3. Find your support system.

It does not matter how old you are or who you have been dating – breakups are hard. You might feel like you are the only person in the world experiencing these emotions, but that’s simply not true. You have friends and family who can relate to you and love you, and they can help you get through this difficult time. Go to your parents, confide in your friends, and surround yourself with people you love.

4. Give sex toys a try.

When you are feeling sad, it can be very difficult to feel turned on. Ideally, you should give your body a bit of time to recover from the stress. After a longer while, you might want to start getting to know your body better on your own and try out a few sex toys, such as small dildos or sex dolls. Stores such as siliconwives.com have a large selection of dolls that you can choose from. Taking this into consideration, you should be able to find one that will fit your needs in no time.

5. Get a pet.

A new pet can absolutely help you deal with the loneliness and sadness. Caring for a pet will make you feel busy and content. If you are pet shopping, remember that animals need space and love, and not all of them will be able to live in a small apartment. If you have never owned a pet before, you might want to select something small such as a hamster. They can be very affectionate and easy to care for!

6. Get moving!

Exercise has helped countless people push through tough times in their lives. If you are not feeling well or just need a little pick-me-up, get moving! Go for a run or a walk around the block and enjoy the fresh air while you are at it. This is also a great way to get your mind off of the tough times you are facing at the moment.

As you can see, there are many things that you can do to move on from a relationship. It is up to you and what you are comfortable with doing!
Give yourself the time you need to heal, and do not rush things. While it might take a while, you will be able to move on soon enough.
