Why Comic Books Have Had A Lasting Impact On Society

reading comic book

I have always been a huge fan of comic books. In fact, my favorites are The Walking Dead and The Amazing Spider-Man series. I read all of these and more in my free time, believe it or not.

Furthermore, I believe that comic books are more important than we assume. It’s because they hold a lot of value to our pop culture. But it also adds a whole lot of value to the money market and our homes since comic books are something we often use to bond with family members when looking for a certain comic book for your collection.

Oftentimes, comic books are a huge part of someone’s childhood. For example, as a teenager, when I was dealing with a particularly hard time in my life and when I got bullied, I would just grab a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man and escape from reality for just a moment, but a glorious one.

These books are way more important when it comes to pop culture and what we love today as a society. For example, did you know that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started as a comic book series?! If it wasn’t for Kevin Eastman and his friend Peter Laird, who both spent hours in the basement drawing the turtles that we all have grown to love today, we wouldn’t have the   Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to enjoy for many generations to come.

Furthermore, if it wasn’t for comic books, we wouldn’t have certain video games and TV series we all love and know, such as The Flash, The Walking Dead, or Alvin and The Chipmunks.

Likewise, if it weren’t for these books, we wouldn’t have a Comic-Con, where we have a chance to come together and meet some of the legends of pop culture.

Another reason that comic books are important is that they can bring family closer together. For example, when I first got introduced to my stepbrother, the first thing we bonded over was the fact that Spider-Man was our favorite superhero and one of our favorite comics to read.

Comics books could be someone’s first introduction to reading, as a young kid who doesn’t like novels and regular books. They might pick a comic, see a superhero, and then get excited about picking up a book and reading more.

If anything, comic books are part of the reason that we are nostalgic as millennials in many ways. It’s because if it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t have the chance to be close to our childhood again. Or close to older generations who also have memories of reading the same comic books we all love. Once we will have our own children, we will pass the comic books to them and carry on the tradition. They will be able to read all that we did so that they can love and appreciate comic books too. They’ll understand their originality as well as how they all got started.

Ultimately, reading comic books is more important than people think. They have been bringing people together for generations. Plus, having comics can lead to even bigger things.
