25 Relatable Moments We’ve All Experienced With Our Families

Are you really a family if you aren’t at least a little dysfunctional? I mean, let’s be real: Everyone has a role in a family and, traditionally, they stick with it. As annoyed and frustrated  as we can sometimes get, It’s so common to have the following sorts of experiences with our families.

Your dad welcoming guests into your home right after your mom just finished yelling at the entire house for fighting, being stupid, or for acting up when guests are about to be over.

Asking your parents for something because all your friends have it and getting sassy responses like these because they think they’re funny.

When your parents make weird references from their youth that you don’t understand, and they just laugh to themselves while you still don’t see what’s funny.

Trying to bring someone over is always impossible because it always turns into an interrogation.

Being “up to no good” means begging your siblings to not rat you out in the process.

But knowing your gonna throw their ass under the bus to feel the tire marks on their face.

Then, when you know you got ratted out but not punished, knowing that something worse is going to come your way because you know how your family works.

Picking your favourite sibling depending on who ratted you out is always going to be well known knowledge to everyone.

Taking drastic actions to try and get some money from someone to get your point across that your broke.

Your mom always tries to come up with some new activity to bond as a family.

But it never works out because someone always ruining it by starting a fight.

And your dad is in public just trying not to strangle everyone for misbehaving.

Being embarrassed by your family’s actions and voicing your concern or disappointment.

When you see a sibling lying to the extended family to make themselves feel better about themselves so you got to bring them back to reality.

Your dad when he sees your mom babying you yet again (in his eyes anyway).

When you get so annoyed by the all the family fights so you decide to sit this one out.

When you tell your mom something you have planned and they look at you like this…

Talking smack about another family member during any random time of day is always acceptable.

Boundaries don’t exist, like ever.

When your grandma is over and your in a fight with the rest of the family and you need someone on your side.

Your grandma seeing just how crazy your family truly is.

When you prove someone wrong in front of someone else and you have to clarify what makes you right.

Despite all the chaos your mom always has a backup plan.

But regardless of what happens when all of you are together, you know you’ll remember it for the rest of your life.

And you know they love you more than anyone.

You love ‘em, you claim you hate ‘em, but you can never leave ‘em. And if you haven’t discussed having a successful reality show at one point, you clearly don’t have enough fun together. At the end of the day, your family is your family and despite unique circumstances that may make us different, we’re all similar. Go tell them you love them and try stirring the pot a little bit.
