It’s easy to complain. It’s easy to pick out what we don’t like about ourselves or our lives and bitch about it instead of making any real efforts to change it.
It’s so incredibly easy to look at ourselves in the mirror in the morning and pick out every little thing we don’t like about ourselves. We don’t like our hair color. We’re a little bit heavier than we wish we were.
It’s easy to spend an entire day at work, loathing your job and everything that comes along with it. We hate the tasks; we can’t stand the people. You’d rather get hit by a bus than spend another day sitting at that desk.
It’s simple to look around the area you live and be so disgusted with the scenery. You see the same boring landscape every day of your life. You’re sick of the people, and you need a new sunrise.
Above all, we find it even easier to complain about all of this. We complain to our friends and family, and even complete strangers on social media, about how much we hate our weight, our hair color, our jobs – the list is endless.
But what we need to realize is that if we have the resources to change our situations, then there’s no reason we shouldn’t be making that change. If you don’t like where you are at in life or the situation you’re in, then do something about it.
Dye your hair. Get a gym membership. Get off your ass and find a new job. Move to a new town. Do what you need to do to make yourself happy, even if it means it won’t be easy.
I realize that some of these resources are hard to come by for some. Can’t afford a gym membership? There’s plenty of at-home exercises you can do that don’t require equipment. It’s 100% free to go for a run outside.
Getting a new job costs nothing. Just make sure you have a plan before just up and quitting so you’re not in a worse situation.
The point is, do something. You are a human being. You have feet. You don’t have roots. You can move, you can think, you can be whatever you want to be.
But first, you need to make the decision to change. Don’t be the person that sits around complaining to anyone who will listen about how unhappy you are with your weight. Don’t rant about your job. Reroute that energy and funnel it into hitting the treadmill, creating a new diet, or searching for a new job. If you’ve done all you can do and nothing has worked for you, then by all means complain. But don’t do it until you’ve tried.
Changing isn’t going to be easy. It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but you have to choose to stick with it and then actually do it. Maybe it will involve taking some risks you’ve never taken before or are out of your comfort zone. Trust yourself. Have faith that things will work out, and take that jump. I believe in you. You can do this.
