The ultimate struggle: Going through life without the ability to filter what you say or how you say things. This could otherwise be classified as word vomit; very hard to control. It’s not always pretty, but that’s just part and parcel of who we are! Fellow females who go through life having no filter will understand the following struggles all too well.
1. Constantly being told to “shh”
When out in public, people hear what you have to say and you get told to “shh.” Your friends and family often get embarrassed by some of the things you say in front of complete strangers. Oops.
2. Being told to be more like a “lady”
3. Dirty looks you get from strangers
If they’re not telling you to “shh,” they’re giving you dirty looks. You’re used to getting dirty looks from strangers in public because not everyone can handle your sense of humor. Sorry folks, time to be less sensitive!
4. Meeting new people is absolute torture
Whether it’s in the form of a job interview or meeting someone’s parents for the first time, you have a VERY hard time acting “normal.” Trying to impress new people with your charming personality and witty banter is difficult when you have to attempt to speak with the filter on. You wish you could just jump to the stage where they know who you are and you can finally be yourself.
5. Growing up with your parents telling you to “watch your mouth”
As if they don’t know exactly where you got it from. Mom, Dad, you should know the struggle seeing as you passed it directly to me!
6. Constantly apologizing
Having no filter means you kind of just say whatever pops into your head and unfortunately, people don’t always understand. So, you find yourself apologizing for offending somebody even though, 9 times out of 10, you really didn’t mean to.
Being someone who always says what’s on their mind can get us in a lot of trouble, but honestly speaking, it keeps life interesting. When it comes to your day-to-day, #NoFilter has nothing to do with your Instagram tags. You’re outspoken, sassy AF, and a damn professional at throwing shade. Your friends love to hate you and hate to love you, but the entertainment never stops so you their complaints go in one ear and out the other.
