5 Effortless Ways To Change Your Diet And See Real Results

I wouldn’t be able to count how many times a month I look at myself in the mirror and decide that I need to change a few things to keep myself in shape. Or the amount of times I’ll be bingeing on Taco Bell and I’ll tell myself that I really need to get a handle on what I’m eating or else I’ll turn into a blimp.

We all do it. We all make stupid health choices for convenience’ sake.

Because being healthy takes so much more effort, right?

What if I told you that it DOESN’T take more effort to be healthy?

Get ready to start showing off your hot bod, because here are 5 easy things to change in your diet to keep you healthy during this generally not-so-healthy winter season.

1. When you have to get fast food, opt for a salad or a wrap.

Look, I get it. There are those days when you’re rushing between work and school and you haven’t eaten in what feels like five years and so you stop by Wendy’s or, heaven forbid, McDonald’s. You rationalize with yourself, and you figure that if you’re already going to be eating “junk” then you might as well go all out. But don’t let yourself spiral. Get a salad or wrap. It may not be the healthiest option out there, but it’s better than the alternative. The few extra dollars will equal a few less inches on the waist.

2. Spend 10 minutes during your lunch break going on a walk.

This will help you more than you know. It’ll make it easier to get through the rest of your work day, and it’ll help you burn off a few calories.

3. Don’t make dessert an every day occurrence.

Part of the beauty of being an adult is having the ability/option to eat ice cream for dinner, if you feel so inclined. However, the other part of being an adult is stopping yourself from doing that. Ice cream is my first love. But don’t let yourself eat it every night…designate Friday night as your dessert night, and look forward to it all week.

4. Tell someone you’re trying to be more health conscious.

You’d be surprised at how helpful it is to tell someone your intentions. They’ll help keep you accountable.

5. Incorporate one extra piece of fruit into your breakfast, and one extra vegetable into your dinner.

There have been countless times that I’m thinking about to be healthier, and I assume that I’m eating tons of vegetables. And then I start keeping track, and I’m shocked to see that I’m really not as healthy as I thought I was. Even if you’re already eating fruit at breakfast and vegetables at dinner, try to add an extra one to each. It will help you bunches and bunches.

These are just a few of the easy ways that you can start incorporating healthier habits into your everyday living. Don’t let yourself be discouraged because you think you need to be changing EVERYTHING about your diet in one day. Take things a few steps at a time, and this is a perfect starting place.
