4 Lessons You Can Actually Learn From The Kardashians

Ten seasons later and the famous family we love to hate seems to be garnering more attention than ever. We seriously can’t help but keep up with the Kardashians. The cause of this recent incline in attention is perhaps due to Jenner’s gender transition or the release of Kim’s new book SelfishMaybe it’s even due to the stunts that the youngest child, Kylie, has pulled recently. From her admission to receiving lip injections to dating the 25-year-old rapper Tyga at age 17, Kylie always provides us plenty of gossip to waste our time with. There has to be some method to their madness. Instead of turning a cold shoulder to this corporate empire of a family as most tend to do, I think it’s time we realize that maybe there’s lessons to be learned from them, even if doing so requires swallowing a little thing called our pride.

1. The power of social media

Kim Kardashian has admitted that her fame exists because of social media. She once told Paper Magazine, “I love sharing my world with people. That’s just who I am.” While their fame did exist before Twitter ever graced the scene, it has evolved along with the various social media outlets. There’s something addicting about possessing the ability to follow the lives of the rich and famous, but what many don’t realize is that we are the ones actually propelling this empire forward. They are famous because we want them to be.

2. It is possible to maintain fame or success without any “real talent”

We all remember the viral moment when Barbara Walters told the family that they had no redeemable talent. Many choose to hate on them for this simple fact. What these people do not realize is that the talent lies in the all success they have attained despite this lack of talent. The most recent season finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians had a whopping 2.101 million views. If that many people were interested in my life, I’d consider that a talent in itself.

3. The world will love you for being you – don’t be a fake

The first instance of Kardashian-related authenticity that comes to mind is the recent confession from Bruce Jenner that has turned heads worldwide; he identifies as a woman. There has been an outbreak of millions of fans supporting him, as well as heartwarming acceptance from their entire family. They also are proud of their own bodies, and encourage others to be as well. Khloe and even Kourtney, at times, have faced speculation about their weight for years. They inspire girls everywhere to be comfortable in their own skin. The Kardashians have never been afraid to be themselves, and while their asses may or may not be real (still up for debate), the love they have for each other is.

4. Family over everything

It’s no secret that the Kardashians are a bit dysfunctional, with their mom as their “momager”, the multiple divorces, the children out of wedlock, and all the rest of the scandals. Despite all these hardships, they have never failed to unite as a family. All of our families are dysfunctional in some ways. I think the most important lesson to be learned from this particular family is that these imperfections are not only acceptable, but are what makes us human.

Regardless of whether you love or hate them, you are going to encounter them. Instead of the constant bashing, maybe it’s time we all took a few tips from them, because literally you are being so rude.
