Understanding Fear

Fear is a normal emotion to protect your heart. It’s often the past experience that causes us to guard our hearts from harm. It’s very important to find the root of what is causing you to fear the present moment and try to overcome it.

If you admit your fears whether it is rational or irrational, In order to embrace the present moment, you would have to admit what you are afraid of.

I’ve always been afraid of each moment whether it is the present moment, the past or both. I’ve always had anxiety of a day that has not happened yet or I let the past come between me and my relationships whether it be romantic or family. With this understanding, it allows you to alter between threats and anxiety.

Strategies of Grounding Yourself in the Present

There are strategies around grounding yourself in the present moment. You can practice deep breathing, focus on your senses, or you can focus on the now with physical activities.

To be honest, that does not help me, but what does help me is talking to my counselor. Not everything that helps one person would help the other. Everyone is different.

The other technique you can use is by acknowledging the positive aspects of your life. You can also focus on what you fear and what you appreciate. This may help you reduce feelings of anxiety and fear.

The role in Managing Fear

Managing fear involves paying close attention to your thoughts, feelings, and judgment. This can be incredible when managing fear and it can encourage you to observe the fear that is haunting you and it can help you overcome it.

By practicing managing fear regularly, it can help you develop awareness and self growth. When you learn how to state the emotion and learn how to respond to it, you’ll learn how to be more calm and have a better way to respond to it.

By practicing how to handle fear, you can develop a more effective way to manage it in a positive way instead of handling it in a bad or disrespectful way. Don’t let fear hold you down from what you want to do.

I’ve always been the type of person who uses fear as an escape and I push people away. But what I learned is if you fear about something, then you won’t be able to do what you want to do. I always care what others think of me, that’s why I fear so strongly.

Transforming Fear Through Action

When you face your fears then you would have a better understanding of how to react to it. If you understand fear, then you won’t be terrified of your fear anymore. The best way is to admit that you are afraid and work on ways to transform it through your actions. It is also important to build confidence so you won’t be afraid anymore.

Everytime you overcome fear, it is another Opportunity to celebrate that you overcame the fear that is holding you back. You deserve to have a victory that overcomes your fear. It does not matter if your fear is big or small, you can still achieve the ability to conquer fear.
