Not Getting What You Want? Try To Detach Yourself

Think about a time you really wanted something. Maybe it was a text or a phone call from a job interview. Or maybe you wanted to find out if you got a good grade on an assignment you worked hard on.

You probably thought about it a lot. You were probably fixated on it, constantly checking your phone and finding it hard to focus on anything else. All that anxiety and eagerness started building up, and it probably got to the point where it was all you thought about.

Tell me: what happened when you kept thinking about what you wanted? Did you end up getting the text, the call, or the email you wanted?

My guess is no.

This likely caused more anxiety and doubt. But what happened when you stopped harping on the situation? What happened when you forgot about it and focused on something else?

Did you get your desired outcome?

If your answer to my question is yes, then you, my friend, have experienced the Law of Detachment.

That probably sounds weird, and you’re asking yourself, “What the hell is the Law of Detachment?” It’s more than one thing, so I will break it down to make it easier to understand.

Every single person on the planet has something they desire. Whether it’s a relationship, grade, job, dream school, or something else, you can desire anything you want without limit.

You can manifest anything you want in your life; manifesting is just a fancy word for believing you have something you want, even if it’s not in front of you. Manifestation simply means that you know you will eventually have the thing you want at some point.

Now, back to the Law of Detachment. Basically, to get what you’re manifesting, you state what you want and then let it go. Let the universe take control, and trust that it will take your desire and let it happen. Basically, detach yourself.

Sometimes, when you set a manifestation or intention, it doesn’t happen immediately, and you get discouraged. You start wondering why you’re not getting what you want. “Where is it?” you ask yourself. “When is it coming?” Your brain starts racing a million miles a minute in desperation.

When we do this, we don’t realize that we’re pushing our desire further and further away.

That thing we want is now being put on a pedestal, and it’s becoming harder and harder to reach – all because we’re acting like this.

This is when the Law of Detachment comes into play. We don’t need what we desire or manifest; it needs us.

That job you interviewed for? You don’t need it; the company needs you. The text you just sent to that guy? You don’t need him; he should be chasing you. It goes on and on.

What we need to do is to let go of what we want and see what happens. What we need to do is to detach.

When you detach, you stop worrying – and that pedestal we just discussed disappears. We place ourselves on the pedestal instead. We become the thing that is being desired, not the other way around. You’re the tequila, not the lime.

I remember there was a guy I was talking to. One day he acted hot and cold towards me, and I was fed up. I’m amazing. And there’s no reason he should have been acting like this. I did nothing wrong.

So I pulled myself together and acted like the badass bitch that I am. The next day, I threw on a hot outfit. When I walked past the guy, he greeted me, but I kept walking and didn’t say anything. Later that day, I walked past him again, and he came up to me, asking how my day was.

See how it works?

I use this situation to remind you that as soon as you let go of what you want, it comes to you.

The next time there’s something you desire, put the thought in your head, let it out to the universe, and then forget about it. Start thinking about something else, whether working on a hobby, watching a movie, or spending time with friends. Get your mind off the thing and watch what happens next.

If it’s something you truly want, you just have to trust that it will come to you. It doesn’t matter how or where; what matters is that you will get it.

It’s none of our business to know how we get to the end of the race. What matters is that you will get there. Release the expectations and just enjoy the process. Detach yourself and stay happy.

You got this, babe.
