How To Stop Missing Your Ex After A Breakup

Oh, no. The end has come. Splitsville. Your relationship is over and you’re devastated. And in addition to getting over your breakup, you can’t stop thinking about — and missing — your ex.

Whether you’re the dumper or the dumpee, the pain of a breakup often feels torturous. Everything you do and every place you go reminds you of your ex. The heart-wrenching emotional struggle feels like it will never end.

You feel desperate and obsess about him non-stop: What is he doing? How is he doing? … WHO is he doing??! This manic, irrational behavior is out of character for you. You feel frenzied … and hurt! And all you can think about is missing your ex.

Your head is constantly spinning with questions:

  • Why did this happen?
  • What did I do?
  • What could I have done differently?
  • Will I ever find love again?

And then there are those annoying little hopeful fantasies … those irrational daydreams that flit around your brain like a pesky, buzzing mosquito:

  • Maybe if I just call, we’ll get back together …
  • Maybe if I act differently, he’ll come back …
  • Maybe I can ‘accidentally’ see him …
  • Maybe I could talk to his friends …

You just want the loneliness, the pain, (and the craziness) to end! It feels like battling an addiction — an incessant physical and mental craving for something that you know is not good for you, but your mind and body joneses for your ex no matter how ‘busy’ you keep yourself! It’s maddening!

So, how do you get over your breakup, move past this grief and move forward with your life??

What can you do to lessen this struggle? What are the things you can do to get over him? How do you move forward with your life???
