8 Simple Tips To Make Your Wedding Day Wonderful

The bride-to-be can benefit from some wedding planning advice that takes into account the anxiety that wells up from engagement to marriage.  Planning for your wedding can be overwhelming and it’s easy to get anxious when you think about all the moving parts required to make that one day a spectacular event.

Anxiety over your upcoming marriage is completely normal for any bride, especially as your engagement draws to a close and the big day gets closer than ever.

Getting married is a big deal, and you want everything — from the bachelorette party to bridal party — to go very right. Every bride-to-be dreams of a perfect, drama, and issue-free wedding, after all!

If you want to overcome your wedding anxiety, here are 8 simple tips for making sure the first day of your marriage doesn’t make you anxious:

1. Understand that wedding anxiety is normal

It is common for most brides-to-be to feel overwhelmed. Planning your wedding can be stressful because you want everything to be perfect. Besides, you have a lot to tick on your checklist: Your wedding venue, invitation cards, wedding color themes, guests, food, and the list goes on.

But don’t let this get too much into your nerves and be the reason why you won’t enjoy planning your wedding. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you’re anxious or feeling stressed. It’s totally normal!

2. Have a long engagement

Give yourself plenty of time to plan your wedding. Don’t pressure yourself to plan right after you said “Yes!” to your partner’s proposal because your family and friends are asking for your wedding date.

Having a long engagement has a lot of advantages. You can have more time searching for vendors, you can change your mind about little things on your wedding checklist, and you can save more money, which will be great when it comes time to plan your honeymoon or put a downpayment on a new house.

3. Stay within your budget

Every bride has a “dream” wedding. Most of the time, that dream wedding in their mind is grandiose. You’re going to get married once, right? Why not make it memorable? However, reality strikes, and the wedding budget comes in. This is one factor why a bride becomes a “bridezilla.”

Remember that you’re having a wedding to marry and start a new life with your partner, and not to impress or please anybody, so keep tight to your budget and don’t let anyone shame or bully you into something you can’t afford.

4. Invest in a wedding planner

It may sound like an added expense, but investing in a wedding planner who genuinely cares for your vision on your wedding will make your life easier. They can budget your money for your wedding by helping you avoid unnecessary spending. They also know a lot of vendors that they can refer to you based on your personality, style, and budget. Plus, they are experts in making timelines and controlling chaos in preparation for your wedding, which will take a lot of anxiety and stress off of you.

5. Enjoy the moment with your fiancé

When things get stressful, think about your fiancé and remember how your love story blossomed and reached this phase of life. Your wedding is just a one-day event; focus on the main reason why you said “Yes,” to your partner’s proposal. You’re going to be with each other for the rest of your lives! This is a very special time, so appreciate it.

6. Make time to meditate

To clear your mind and manage your anxiety, you need to keep your stress level low, and meditation and staying well-rested can help. When you wake up, go to a quiet place, sit up with your back straight, close your eyes, and concentrate on your breathing — inhale longer than you exhale.

Clear your mind and just focus on your breathing. You will be surprised by how focused and more relaxed you will be after your meditation. And if anything for your upcoming wedding sparks anxiety, use your meditative breathing to help level yourself and fight off the stress.

7. Stay active

Exercising can help you burn those pesky stress hormones and also keep your body fit for your big day. Go for a jog or walk every day. Physical activities like jogging can help release a chemical in your brain called endorphins that produce the sensation of happiness and well-being. Not only will it relieve stress, but this will also improve your self-esteem and confidence to wear that beautiful wedding dress.

8. Eat healthy foods and avoid junk items

Planning your wedding can be really stressful and some brides turn to their comfort food to make them feel happy. You know the ones: Creamy ice cream, American-style burgers, authentic Mexican tacos, and so many desserts! As comforting as they are, they do not have any positive effect on you. Healthy diet plans can reduce stress and promote positivity not only for your mind but also for your body.

Remember, the most important thing is that you’re marrying the love of your life! That’s why you’re having a wedding. Everything else is secondary. Your family and friends are there to witness two hearts unite and celebrate with you and support you. If things don’t go as planned, brush it off and laugh about it. It doesn’t mean your marriage will fail.
