Are These 5 BookTok Books Worth The Read?

BookTok is becoming more and more popular. When you enter a bookstore, they’ll have “BookTok” tables up front full of TikTok’s latest recommendations.

But how many of them are truly worth the read? Here are five popular BookTok books and my opinions on them.

1. “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover

Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! A million times yes. I’m a sucker for a sad romance and lots of angst, so this was easily my favorite book of 2021.

Outside of the dark romance and the childhood memories, it has important themes that are important for everyone to understand. It takes a deep dive into the life domestic violence creates and analyzes why it’s so hard for survivors to leave.

It is one of the most important novels written today. It is intellectual and somehow, Colleen Hoover ensures that you don’t drown in the sadness by flashing back to the main character’s first love, Atlas. Overall, this is one of the greatest books I’ve ever read and I will recommend it to everyone who asks.

2. “They Both Die At The End” by Adam Silvera

At first, I really did not want to read this book. It’s all in the title. Why fall in love with characters when you know they’re both going to die at the end? But then I got sucked in by one of my friends and here I sit, heartbroken and full of love and adoration for this book, the author, and the characters.

This book is beautifully written and it truly does display Adam Silvera’s amazing talent. You are forced to feel all emotions known to man in this book, most of all sadness and love.

And if you’re someone who isn’t super fond of reading and needs something easy to read, this is a great book for that. I finished it in one day, then cried the rest of the day.

3. “Where The Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens

This story feels like one of the books you would read in a high school English class. If I’m being 100% honest, it wouldn’t be in my top five favorite books I’ve read in 2021. It was a slow burn and I was really struggling to finish it.

On the other hand, Delia Owens is extremely talented. She is an amazing writer and I love her writing style. It was just the plot of this story specifically that couldn’t draw me in.

4. “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr

YES! That’s it.

Just read it. I promise you’ll love it.

5. “The Invisible Life of Addie Larue” by V. E. Schwab

This book was poetic. I loved it so much I finished it in one day. It was truly magical. I put so many sticky notes in this book because it has so many quote-worthy lines. If that’s your niche, then this novel was made for you.

But it was also a slow burn, so if that will kill your vibes, this might not be it for you. Though when it does burn, it burns hot and is like a storm, so I can promise it’s worth the wait.

Also, can we talk about the cover? I love the cover. It’s so simple but so beautiful.

V.E. Schwab is an amazingly talented author.

Despite my opinions, if you feel like you would like a story’s plot, then you should definitely read the book. We all have different tastes, so what I like and don’t like will vary from your own opinions.
