5 Reasons Winter Is The Best Season For Fashion

Winter is the most amazing season of the year. There are many holidays, such as Christmas and New Year’s Eve, during winter that we eagerly wait to celebrate. It is especially great to spend time with relatives and friends that we haven’t seen in a while. Winter is a great season too for many fun sports: skiing, ice climbing, and even building a snowman. While all of these components of the winter season are wonderful, it is also the easiest season and best for fashion, and it is not talked about enough. Here’s why:

Wearing white

White is the most abundant color of the season. Due to the snow that has fallen, rivers that have frozen, and the mountain peaks that reflect an icy shine, white is the “it” color to wear. White represents the presence of light, and with nighttime starting as early as 5 p.m., white is the most reflective color as well. It is also neutral and it matches any color in the spectrum. So, white will look great with other seasonal colors put together, such as dark green, red, gold, chocolate brown, etc.

Winter basics are never out of style

Winter is the coldest season of the year too. During this chilly time, we can stay warm by wearing sweaters, scarves, thick socks, and boots, amongst other garments. These winter staples rarely go out of style since they are essential to maintain body heat. Anyone can rewear their last winter essential clothes over again. We can even save money when shopping for newer garments, if we stick to matching them with our older ones.

If you are short on money, a good way to keep warm is by wearing many layers of clothes. For instance, I can wear summer t-shirts layered on top of thermals or even wear thick leggings underneath a skirt and/or shorts. Mixing and matching thermals with summer clothes is a trick that is often used. This gives an opportunity to bundle up easily. Not to mention that during winter time summer clothes are often marked down. Plus, ‘long johns’ and thermals are very affordable and come in all sizes and colors.

Thrift Stores

Thrift stores carry a wide variety of seasonal clothing. Winter clothes aren’t the exception. Knitted sweaters, scarves, and winter jackets are found all year long at the thrift stores. Mountaineers often rely on thrift stores when shopping for winter sports gear. If you are planning on attending a themed-party this winter, such as an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, the thrift store is also a good place to shop for that old relic.

Mix N’ Match Accessories

If you are looking to change your daily winter look without doing much, mixing and matching is a great option. The easiest way to mix and match in the winter is by alternating your accessories. For example, gloves and/or socks in different colors or color blocking your hats with your gloves. There are many fun and endless possibilities.

Embrace the season and take advantage of how fun dressing up and styling is in the winter.

The snow, the white, and the simplicity of the season make it a great time to dress and be stylish. Winter fashion is more than just about being festive and putting on a Santa hat.
