Guys, Learn To Give “The Girl Next Door” A Chance

“The girl next door.” We’ve all heard the term. We’ve probably associated the term with movies where the main character falls for the popular cheerleader and disregards the girl who has been in love with him since the day they met. At the end of the movie, he realizes how amazing she is, they kiss and live happily ever after.

Only life isn’t a movie, and this isn’t always the case. Sometimes the guy goes for the pretty girl with all the flashy jewelry and makeup and leaves the girl next door in the dust.

And honestly, it sucks. You have this beautiful connection with someone, one that you can’t just find anywhere. And you’re left behind for the girl who barely knows his name, let alone his birthday.

Guys, help this make this all make sense, please

You know the connection that you have with this girl is special. You know that when you see her for the first time in a while, your heart skips a beat, and you get nervous when you start talking. Your smile gets big and you start laughing over everything she’s saying.

This connection is so natural, you couldn’t even make the attempt to force it, because it’s a real connection.

You grew up together.

Sure, maybe you didn’t grow up next door to each other. Maybe she was your best friend’s little sister who you always saw as a “kid.” Or maybe you met through your parents and didn’t like each other until you got older. But together you went through milestones and hard times and were there for each other.

Face it, this person knows you better than you know yourself at times.

Your family also probably loves her. And she’s probably beautiful, kind, and hilarious. She’s someone who can be herself around you, and you can be yourself around her. The connection is so pure. Why wouldn’t you go for it?

Why wouldn’t you want to be someone who knows you so well?

Your partner is supposed to bring out the best in you and ultimately be the person who knows you better than anyone. Why wouldn’t you want to be with that person?

Something brought the two of you together. Whether it was fate, the universe, or just a pure coincidence, something caused you to form this bond. Why create it if it wasn’t something that could eventually go somewhere?

You’re chasing down a girl in a tight dress and heels who won’t remember where you met her, when there’s a beautiful girl in front of you who knows how you like your coffee.

Get your head out of your ass, stupid, and give the girl a chance.

Sure, there’s a chance that things might not work out. But there’s also a chance that it could. Why focus on the “what ifs”?

She’s yours. And she has been yours since day one, so just go for it.

Sincerely,

The Girl Next Door
