10 Summer Date Ideas Inspired By Classic Chick Flicks

Lockdowns, masks, limited capacity, and closed-up places. That is so summer 2020. With a brand new summer here, one with numerous opportunities for fun and enjoyment, who isn’t enticed to get out there and experience life again! And what’s better than to enjoy that summer fun with someone special. So if you and your significant other are ready to enjoy your lives and summer again, here are a few ideas from some of our favorite  chick flicks to make the summer of 2021 the best comeback summer ever!

  1. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

This 1961  classic stars Audrey Hepburn as the escort looking for love, Holly Golightly. Holly often enjoys a morning stroll past the infamous Tiffany jewelry store (hence the name!) while enjoying a light breakfast. If you and your significant other live in the city, why not do the same? Or  enjoy a light breakfast of croissants and coffee and put this classic on!

  1. Mystic Pizza

This 1988 movie, starring Julia Roberts, focuses on the lives of three best friends who work as waitresses at a pizza joint. A simple date night at a pizza place can be a great way to rewind and enjoy each other’s company.

  1. Dirty Dancing

Ah, the 1987 romantic classic starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Who doesn’t love this film about a rich girl who falls in love with a dancing instructor while on a summer vacation. Turn on “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” and reenact the scene with your significant other in your living room. Or live it up with a night of dancing at a local club or dance hall (if those even still exist!)

  1. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

This  movie focuses on a group of friends who share a love of a magical pair of pants that flatters all their figures, despite their varying sizes. Not only are these pants magical, but they also help these girls with their personal, family, and love lives. Connecting with your significant other by taking a shopping trip can be very therapeutic. And it doesn’t have to be clothing shopping either!

  1. The Notebook

This  tear-jerker of a movie has shown us that keeping note of what goes on everyday does definitely come in handy later on in life. It also shows us the wickedness of dementia and the toll it plays not only on the person suffering from it, but for their caretaker as well. Spending a night writing what you love about a significant other or making a scrapbook of a memorable trip will be worth it in years to come.

  1. Love & Basketball

In this 2000 flick, Monica and Quincy bond over their lovefoforf basketball. Two aspiring professionals, this movie shows us how tough it is for girls in the world of competitive sports. Playing a game of basketball or any other sport  can be a great way to bond with your significant other

  1. Booksmart

This 2019 movie features two nerdy best friends, Amy and Molly, who feel like they slighted themselves by studying all through high school. On the eve of their graduation, they decide to live it and make up for lost time. Creating a list of crazy, (well, not too crazy), things  to accomplish together can be fun to do with your significant other.

  1. Whip It

A movie about a beauty pageant queen turned queen of the roller rink who discovers the heartache of lost love and championships. This movie can help bring out the inner competitor in you when you challenge your significant other to a night of skating. Lace up!

  1. Casablanca

Another classic, this one from 1942. Who can resist that great line, “Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine.” Given by Bogart to Bergman. After watching this movie, you and your significant other may just want to head down to the beach for an evening sunset or early morning walk.

  1.  Love Story

The ultimate 1970 boy meets girl and then girl dies movie that has your eyes watering early on. This film, which proves love does conquer all, may have you and your significant other spending a night at home, just enjoying the company of each other.

No matter what you and your significant other plan to do this summer, or what movie you pair it with, it’s all about the company and the memory making. Let us know in the comments below how you and your partner are living it up this summer.
