The Most Underrated Things To Do During The Pandemic

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, people are still spending the majority of their time at home. As a result, products like video games, home exercise equipment, and books have seen huge boosts in sales. However, people who are struggling financially, cannot possibly afford a $500 gaming console or even a $30 yoga mat. If you are one of these people, don’t worry — you can still access quality entertainment for free. In fact, here are three great ways technology can help keep you entertained if you’re still staying home due to the pandemic.

1. Use Libby to check out books online.

I recently learned that thousands of local libraries offer free eBooks and audiobooks through Libby. In fact, you can stream books on any device with an internet connection or download them so you can read anytime, anywhere. To use Libby, all you need to do is to set up an online account with your local library, sign into Libby with your library account. Then, voila! You have access to literally thousands of titles. Whatever you decide to read or listen to from Libby, enjoy exploring new worlds from the comfort of your home.

2. Explore a museum through a virtual tour.

If you have watched everything in your Netflix queue, then try a virtual museum tour! While these tours aren’t exactly the same as visiting in-person, they provide an interactive experience that describes every detail of the museum for you.

If you aren’t sure where to start, check out the British Museum in London or the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. Also, since airfare to visit these places is quite expensive, looking at these historic items from the comfort of your home for absolutely free is a nice consolation prize.

3. Soak up some Vitamin D with a workout app.

Although staying inside is the safest way to protect you and your loved ones from the pandemic, human beings need sunlight because it provides vitamin D. Luckily for all of us, there are many ways to get some fresh air for free that are also interactive.

For example, the Thenics app gives you all of the necessary exercises to bring your training routine to fruition. The app guides you through everything with descriptions and technique explanations of the skills and progressions. You can also use the app’s recommended workout patterns to really get your heart rate going.

Although many of us feel trapped at home, we just need to find creative ways to entertain ourselves while we continue to follow social distancing protocols. With these three recommendations, passing the time should be easier — and absolutely free of charge.

  1. Interesting article. But almost all the options here are way too obvious, aside from virtual museum tours. That’s actually an interesting one.

  2. I’m pretty sure that many people used to play games during the pandemic. I think it was the best time for that.
