6 Surprisingly Tasty Snacks For Your Next Movie Night

tasty-snack-ideas

It’s been a long time since most of us enjoyed a tasty snack and a movie at the cinema. Unfortunately, it will also be some time before many of us go back. However, we can all still settle down on the sofa with our loved ones, dim the lights, and have a movie night right at home

Since you’re at home, though, you can use some of the tips from the so-called book of ra deluxe demo and enjoy these six tasty (and healthy) snacks that beat even the best movie theater popcorn.

1. Sweet Chili Hot Dogs

Ingredients: Hot dog sausages (meat or vegan), hot dog buns, a couple of onions, and a bottle of sweet chili sauce

This subtle twist on the standard movie weenie just adds a bit of fried onion and sweet chili sauce on top of an everyday hot dog. To whip these doggies up, put your sausages in a roasting tin and cook in the oven for about 25 minutes. While the weenies roast, chop and fry some onions until brown, and top it all off with just a little sweet chili sauce. Just remember to have napkins on hand if you’re eating these during the movie!

2. Homemade Trail Mix

Ingredients: dried fruits, nuts (add fresh grapes and berries if you want as well)

Trailmix is a very healthy, tasty snack that can easily be customized to meet any person’s dietary needs. For this mix, simply grab some big bowls, then add a tasty mix of dried fruit and nuts or seeds. If you want to make sure you’re getting your daily dose of fruits, pick up some dried apricots or throw in some fresh fruit to keep things fresh. Who said tasty snack food recipes can’t also be healthy?

3. Super Smoothies

Ingredients: Fresh fruit, especially pineapple, raspberries, strawberry, blueberries, kiwi or mango, may be blended with a little yogurt, coconut milk, or fresh milk.

If you are having a tasty snack, then you want a drink too. But rather than reaching for a sugary processed drink like a Coke or Pepsi, keep things healthy by whipping up a tasty smoothie with all of your favorite fruits (or even vegetables). If you want to really make it a healthy beverage, sneak in a touch of spinach or kale. Yum!

4. Naughty Banana Milkshakes

Ingredients: Bananas, milk, vanilla Ice cream and add a cherry or strawberry on the top

Admit it, we all love milkshakes at least as much as a smoothie. Although some may say a milkshake is a “naughty” choice for a snack, remember that people do far worse when the lights go down at the cinema! So why not enjoy a “naughty” moment at home with an ice-cream-filled treat topped off with some whipped cream? Go on, you know you want one!

5. Brown Sugar Popcorn

Ingredients: Popcorn, cinnamon, and brown sugar

Yes, it is true The Rolling Stones were talking about popcorn. What’s more evocative of a cinema than some popped corn, sprinkled before cooking (and afterward too!) with some brown sugar and cinnamon. Oh, that smell! Just be sure to wash off those sticky fingers before you reach for your phone after the movie wraps up!

6. Nachodums

Ingredients: poppadoms, fresh tomatoes, onions, peppers, paneer, mango chutney, relish, yogurt, cucumber

The heat of India and Mexico combine on our final tasty snack, which is a mash-up of nachos and poppadoms. Just make your salsa using the vegetables and relish, fry the paneer, put your yogurt and cucumber together to make a Raia… and you have nachos with an Indian twist. What’s that? A tasty snack? Yes, a truly original, tasty snack.
