11 New Year’s Resolution Ideas If You’re Completely Over 2020

2020 has been a year filled with chaos and change. Indeed, most parts of 2020 were more terrible than predicted, but the year is coming to an end. When the new year begins, we all want to move on from the past and work towards new goals. 2021 may be the year where all of us blossom as a person, and find something unique about ourselves. But you may ask, “how can we do that?” Well, here are 11 ideas for New Year’s resolutions that will help us start afresh:

1) Pick up a new hobby

When school work or 9-to-5 jobs consume our lives, it can be difficult for anyone to start a new hobby. The New Year’s is a great time for everyone to discover a new activity. Whether that would be grabbing a paint brush, purchasing an empty notebook, or trying out a new video game, nothing is better than trying something new in the start of a new year.

2) Try a new restaurant

Why not unleash your inner foodie by trying new restaurants and cuisines? Instead of sticking to your old favorites, eat at a place where you’ve never thought about trying before. You never know what will happen. You might have a new favorite place!

3) Explore more places around the neighborhood

Although your community may seem small, you’ll be surprised by what you can find. A  weekly trip can be planned easily with a car or by walking. If you’re feeling adventurous, go on a drive when the skies turn dark blue, and see the lights beam around the city.

4) Create a new fitness schedule

If you’ve found your previous fitness schedule to be inconvenient, it might be time to revise it.  Purchase a yoga mat from your local store, search some new videos on YouTube, and follow along with the instructions. Heck, even play music out loud while completing your routine.

5) Re-decorate your home

Not a fan of old wallpapers? Then re-decorate your home with your favorite colors, furniture, and props. Research some ideas and take inspiration from what others have done. After, you can create a moodboard and purchase the materials you need. The process is tedious, but at least you’ll be more than happy in your house.

6) Meet new people

Sometimes, the new year can leave us feeling lonely and uncertain. If you’ve suffered from a terrible breakup in the previous year, now is the right time to meet a new person. Say hi to the coworker that you never talked to, or kindly converse s with your next door neighbor. They may become your best buddies.

7) Learn a new language

Grab your favorite language learning app, and find a friend who can speak that language. Practice some basic sentences with them, and be impressed with your progress after 11 months.

8) Watch a new documentary every week

It’s interesting to take a deep dive into the world. Watching documentaries is not only a fun way to learn about new lessons, but it opens your eyes to current events. So, grab your Sherlock Holmes outfit, and open your laptop to decipher a mysterious event.

9) Donate old clothing

We often forget about our old clothes or choose to throw them away. However, both actions are harmful to the environment. In order to contribute to the betterness of society, why not donate a piece of your old clothing for charity? Some people will definitely need it.

10) Create a new project

If you’ve always wanted to start something for your portfolio, New Year’s is a perfect time to accomplish it. See what you like, work towards your goals, and surprise yourself with something.

11) Do one thing at a time

Oftentimes, we immerse ourselves to finish up projects, and do chores on time. However, we forget to live life day-by-day. 2021 must be the year where we learn to take life one step at a time, and not rush to complete tasks. After all, we’re all on our own paths, and that’s what makes us unique.
