7 Simple Ways You Can Celebrate National Pumpkin Day

It’s that time of year where everything is pumpkin again. It’s almost impossible to get away from it. From carving pumpkins to pumpkin spice lattes,  pumpkin is everywhere you look. Did you know that there is even a National Pumpkin Day? Mark October 26th on your calendars as a day to celebrate the magnificent pumpkin. There’s so much you can do with pumpkins, so here’s a list of some pumpkin things to get you into the holiday spirit:

1. Go to a pumpkin patch.

From finding the perfect pumpkin to exploring the elaborate corn maze, going to the pumpkin patch is a great way to celebrate the holiday. While not all activities might be open due to COVID-19, it’s still a great outing for the whole family!

2. Carve a Jack-o-lantern.

Now that you have your pumpkins from the pumpkin patch it’s time to carve those bad boys. Jack-o-lanterns are a great way to show your creative side and get you in the spooky spirit.

3. Paint a pumpkin.

Can’t carve a pumpkin? Painting is a great alternative and gives you the ability to get more detailed with your design. Also, painting pumpkins will make them last longer.

4. Enjoy the pumpkin seeds.

After carving your pumpkin, it’s a popular tradition to bake the pumpkin seeds. It’s a festive snack you can enjoy while watching scary Halloween movies.

5. Treat yourself to a pumpkin spice latte.

Sometimes to get into the holiday spirit you have to be basic. If basic means getting a delicious drink for the whole month of October, then count me in.

Don’t want to spend money on a PSL? You can usually find a pumpkin spice creamer at your nearby grocery store. It’s a cheaper way of creating a holiday in a cup.

6. Light some pumpkin-scented candles.

Walking into the smell of autumn is a magical thing. That’s why fall pumpkin candles are a must for the holiday season.

7. Bake some pumpkin bread.

Another sweet treat that goes along with the holiday is baking pumpkin bread. October 26th is the perfect excuse to bake as many sweet goodies as you want. It doesn’t have to just be pumpkin bread either — anything pumpkin is acceptable all October. I’ve even heard of people making pumpkin waffles. (I know that’s one recipe that I’ll have to try out for myself.)

Those are just some of the things you can do with pumpkins. There is so much more you can do, the possibilities are endless! So, get creative and pumpkin it up! It’s nearing the end of October, so let’s celebrate the beauty of fall in all its glory. Finishing off this month strong means adding pumpkin to everything, especially today. Happy National Pumpkin Day!
