6 Tips For Getting Salon-Worthy Nails At Home

We all want flawless nails, but many of us can’t afford to get them professionally done at a salon. Just like good hair days, a good nail day has the ability to transform your mood and leave you feeling more confident. So why wouldn’t you strive for that? Luckily, getting perfect nails at home isn’t that hard when you follow these simple tips.

1. Make sure to choose the right gel nail varnish.

There are many nail varnishes to choose from, but not all of them will give you a salon result. Opting for a gel nail varnish is a good idea because it will give you the intense color and shine that you’re looking for with just two coats. On top of that, gel nail polish usually lasts much longer than other ones on the market and it doesn’t chip as easily. This is good news for you since it means that you can enjoy your nail polish for up to 2 weeks.

2. Always apply a topcoat.

Not using a topcoat after your color dries is the equivalent of not using a conditioner after shampooing. If you’ve just painted your nails, then it’s essential that you use a top coat to keep everything in place. Not only does it increase the color and shine, but it also reduces the chance of the varnish chipping away quickly. Even if you decide to not wear any gel nail varnish, you’ll still benefit from using a clear nail varnish on your bare nails — it enhances the shine and leaves your nails looking exceptionally healthy.

3. Add some glitter to your nails.

Applying nail varnish perfectly to your nails without making a single mistake isn’t an easy task, especially if you have limited experience. It’s common to make ‘blobs’ on your nails during an uneven application, and when that happens, there’s one thing that can fix it: glitter. The great thing about glitter is its ability to hide any mistake you’ve made and leave your nails looking flawless. Adding a bit of sparkle can help you feel more confident as well!

4. Keep your nails clean regularly.

It might sound obvious, but when you have painted nails, you can’t always see the dirt that’s building up underneath them. Washing your hands isn’t enough, so it’s best to use a nail brush with soap and water to gently remove any dirt from underneath them. Do this every day to ensure that your nails are free of germs and bacteria.

5. Use cuticle oil.

One of the best things you can do to keep your nails looking healthy is to apply cuticle oil regularly. The reason why cuticle oil is so beneficial is because it’s derived from vegetable oils and vitamins, which help stimulate nail growth and prevent damage. All you need to do is apply a few drops of the oil to a cotton ball and apply it to your nails. You’ll notice the oil gives them a natural shine!

6. Get in control of nail-biting

Biting your nails is incredibly damaging as it transfers bacteria from your mouth to your fingers and vice versa. Moreover, the act of biting can lead to soreness, irritation, and damage to the tissue surrounding your nails. If you want your nails to be healthy and grow, then you need to find a way to prevent nail-biting. Habits are hard to break, especially since nail-biting is often caused by anxiety and stress. Getting to the bottom of this can definitely help with the long term effects, but in the meantime, consider applying a diluted vinegar solution to your nails and let it dry. Hopefully, the smell and taste act as a deterrent.

Good-looking and healthy nails are a staple of every woman’s hand. Therefore, it’s important to know what’s good for them and what’s not. Hopefully, these tips will help you achieve all your nail goals and more.
